Anybody else addicted to Madden 2004?

I cannot get enough of this game. I won the Superbowl with the Bears and I'm having a blast. And you can import the draft class from NCAA, which is so cool. The Bears now have Eli Manning and Chris Perry. Anybody else obsessed?

No, the Madden games feel a little too rehashed for my tastes. I've been sticking with Sega's NFL games since the early 90's, they've always played better (IMO).

I, too, prefer the Sega football games. They're now called ESPN Football, but still superior in my opinion.

Im just about to start my 9th year in franchise.

I had a few rough years but i finally took my team to "back-to-back" championship seasons. Lost the AFC championship last season and im hoping to get there again.

I was never really a fan of sports games, but Madden changed my mind there. I'm working the NCAA 2004, too, trying to win a national championship.

I havent played the ESPN football games, but I dont think I could do without the playmaker control. it helps so much to be able to switch things around a little bit, without a full audible. The first-person football does look pretty cool though.

I am a, and have been a fan of the Madden series for quite some time. 2004 is a great extension to the series...the depth it has is just awesome.

Madden 2004 has a lot of features but the gameplay totally sucks. Like if you're kicking the computer's ass, it will magically cheat so it can win. ESPN Football may not have as many features but plays a lot better.

Kinda off topic but maybe not....... Does Madden or Espn either one allow you to create your own custom team without jumping through some major hoops??? I know with Madden 2003 you could but it was a real pain because you had to trade and watch caps etc etc. What I am looking for is being able to create the teams from my Fantasy Football League so we can all battle it out on the computers now that the season is over. Any suggestions of a good game for this would be great!

Madden 2004 is a cool game. Having followed the season though, some of the ratings are kinda silly (like Kurt Warner), and you get to do some "what ifs" with injured players (like Michael Vick or Marshall Faulk). And of course some of the teams are a bit off (like Tampa), but on the whole it's a fun experience.

I'd played NCAA 2002 and 2004, loving both of those. My wife finally picked me up Madden 2004 for Christmas this year. I decided to try a fantasy draft so my Cowboys can actually compete a little better. I haven't finished a complete season yet, but having a ton of fun.

I love it.

I play as the Cardinals, though, just to have a challege in franchise mode.

My biggest complaints are that a player can't really come out of nowhere to be great, because of how the ratings are done, and that there aren't enough players in the draft, especially on offense. You never get any undrafted HBs/WRs, even though in reality they can often end up as good or better then drafted ones (see: Holmes, Priest).

Theres a way to do a fantasy draft where they throw all the players into a big pool and you draft from that. And you can turn off the salary cap.

Once I figured out some good sliders to get more realistic stats I came to love this year's version. Much is improved over last year, but before the patch coach mode was unplayable due to way too many sacks. Now with the patch and some decent sliders I have great results for coach mode and simulating games. If you all want sliders check out the forum on http://www.maddenmania.com/ they have a lot of helpful info there and some great sliders.

I just got addicted again and played 8 games in two nights...when I should be writing a term paper...oops...

But I am 7-1 with the Eagles, signed Keyshawn to a long term deal and traded for Dante Hall while still keeping enough cap room to sign TO at the end of the year

The only thing I like about football games is the offseason. I love making my team better getting good draft picks and makine key trades. I never actually play the football just the offseason. I hear that its the best ever in 2004 but I can't get another football game just for the offseason when there are so many other games out there.

Somewhere in options, you'll find the gameplay sliders.

There are sliders for things like run block, pass block, interceptions etc, there are also penalty sliders.

Basically they are flat lines with a point on them, they are all 50 by default.

Moving the slider left or right would increase or decrease the value. Lessening or increasing the action of the slider (eg higer pass block = less sacks).

If one gets the right combination of sliders, the result is more realistic gameplay.

Oh, ok...didn't realize you ment those. I've tried them before, but only when the computer refs decide to let my receivers get interfeared with

Yeah, and if you feel like totally destroying other teams, feel free to push them all the way to the right in your favor.

I LOVE THE MADDEN SERIES!!! I have a friend who programmed all the names in NCAA 04, so now I import draft classes accordingly. I play as the Lions, and can get some damn good draft classes. I love this game soooooo much.

I've been playing Madden for over a decade. I love it.

I've got it on the PS2. It's stunning. I remember back in the day, playing it on Super Nintendo and the Sega Genesis. It just keeps getting better.

I really want to get the names but I'm far too lazy to do it myself. Theres a guy who sells memory cards with the names on ebay, but it seems like a lot to spend for just the rosters.

I only have the demo for the PC version right now, and it's a challenge, to say the least. I can't see, or edit for that matter, any of the options, but I have a feeling it's on the hardest difficulty level, because it is hard! All of my passes are getting intercepted, my defense can do nothing, etc.

Another obstacle is that each of the quarters is only one minute long! So it's pretty much a two-minute drill both ways.

Also, the only game you can play is Bucs vs. Raiders.

But probably the worst part of the demo is that I can't set the controls! I had to find out how to do all the actions by trial and error, it took me forever to figure out how to even spike the ball! And I have yet to figure out how to call a fair catch on punts, which is a big problem as I'll often get surrounded on a return, and fumble it as soon as I catch it because I couldn't call a fair catch.

I've managed to put together a few nice drives, but the overall difficulty has kinda driven me away. I might check out the full version once Madden 2005 comes out and 2004 becomes 10 dollars.
