Ratchet & Clank: Going Commando

What a great game. Possibly my favorite game of the year. I just can't stop playing it. It is just so much fun. If you don't have it go get it.

"Mom, can I get Ratchet and Clank: Going Commando?"
"What kind of game is it?"
"I don't know, but it's good!"
"How do you know if you don't even know what kind of game it is?"
"Some guy on the internet said so."

I'm glad to hear that you've found such a great game, but it would be kind of nice to give us a little bit of info. Why is it so great? What is it like?

Graphically I was overwhelmed at how much of a huge step it took from R&C1, the gameplay still remained the same althought enemies seemed a lot more easier to defeat. From it's obvious friendly competition (Jak II) I'd have to say Jak is the better game, mainly because it's story was far more interesting (and darker). R&C2 is still an amazing game and comedy is priceless.

First off its just one of those games that is a blast to play. I just don't want to put it down. You get so many different weapons and have so many ways you could go about taking on the enemies in front of you. You can start by picking a few of with your siper rifle. jump out from behind cover and shoot off a few rockets get a little closer and use the gun that explodes into a ton of smaller bombs that is just insanely strong. The action is just fast passed and crazy. As you use the weapons they gain experience and will eventually level up into a much stronger form. You collect bolts as you go to purchase new weapons by the way. Its not like you have to go out of your way to get them they are in crates that are right by and are dropped by enemies. The game is not a collectathon type game. Graphically it looks very good for a PS2 game but that is not what makes it so great. It is just a blast to play.

Oh also after you beat the game you get to go through it again to earn extra weapon upgrades. This time there is a bolt multiplier. As you kill enemies the multiplier goes up and can get up to x20. Once you get hit though it goes back down to x2. It adds so much to the game for you 2nd play through. I love this game.

sorry the impressions aren't that good and not in a very good order but I just typed them up quick without putting much thought into them.

I just rented this game based on some reviews that I read, and I must say that I'm hooked. I've only played it for an hour or two, but it's a great game thus far.

Hey, can anyone who's played the first and second R + C tell me if I need to play the first one before the second? Going Commando got really, really good reviews, but the first one got simply "above average" reviews. Is the first one necessary to enjoy the second?

Definately not, you get a recap in the opening cutscene of part one but part two is a completely different story. In other words, forget part 1, go get part 2. However were you asking the same question for Jak and Daxter I'd say buy both because of how vastly different they are. R&C2 takes the bigger better badder deal (bad in a good way).

I haven't played the first one, yet. However, I am immensely enjoying the second.

I picked it up as an afterthought, but it hasn't left the machine for about 3 days.
