Project Gotham Racing 2

Does anyone here beside me have Project Gotham Racing 2? It is a really good racing game for the Xbox. If you have a Xbox and Xbox Live, I'd highly recommend it. When you're connected to Xbox Live when you're playing single player, all your fastest laps, total kudos (score for stylish driving tricks), are all uploaded to Xbox Live in real time so you can compare with your friends. You can even download ghost cars of the fastest drivers and race against them. Your total kudos (offline or online, there are separate ranks for each) will affect your kudos rank, whenever you gain a level in the kudos ranking system, you'll get kudos tokens which you can exchange for new cars (This is crucial for playing online). The higher level you are, the more kudos tokens you'll get as you rank up. If anyone wants to play on Xbox Live sometime, send a friend request to epsilonomega, and we can play sometime.

The cars I mainly use varies on each track, but on the Edinburgh series, I use the Porsche Carrera GT, or the Koenigsegg CC V8S. On my favorite track, Nürburgring-- the 14-mile behemoth of a track, I use the Enzo Ferrari, or Porsche Carrera GT.

It's ok. The courses are still restrictive, there's no car damage, and the sense of speed is crap.

It's a beautiful beautiful game but it just didn't feel fun, perhaps this is due to me binging on NFSU then playing PGR2.

heh, I'm still stuck playing Midnight Club 2. I can't bring myself to buy two racing games. Though I have heard great things about this game on LIVE.

There IS car damage in this game, it is probably the only racing game with licensed cars that allow you to damage cars. While the damage doesn't affect the performance of the car, it still looks amazing what you can do to your car. When you hit a guardrail going into a corner at 100MPH it actually slows you down, unlike the Gran Turismo games where you can go into a corner and practically ride the guardrail without any loss of speed. The sense of speed is also greater than most racers out now (GT3, Sega GT 2002, Auto Modellista, Need for Speed Hot Pursuit 2).

The game has totally redefined the online racing genre with its real-time updating of your scores, fastest laps to Xbox Live.

I can't belive any serious racing game fan dosn't like PGR2. NFS Underground is just an arcadey, cheesey but entertaining simulation of ricer culture (not actual physics) I was blown away by the graphics, physics, feel and fun of PGR2. Everything was done just right, everything. It is the best racing game iv played to date. It just clicked for me. I highly enjoy it.

Its a great racing game, dont get me wrong. BUT, i feel that it doesnt hold a candle to the light produced by GT3.

Nothing has come close to the depth produced by the GT series. I hadnt played PGR1, it may be close to 2, in this sense, but i do enjoy the different type of races you must do, (ie: catchup, one on one, cones, etc..). Its alot better then most, but still.. It has nothing on GT1-3

I have it. Fantastic game - probably my favourite racer ever.

GT3 might be better technically but I never felt an urge to play it..

I bought live just for PGR2. Holy crap it was worth the 70 bucks! The ghosts help out so much. And live multiplayer is so much better because you don't have to call your friends over, they just get online. I love this thing.

I finally got sick of trying to get platinum on every level and bought the Action Replay. To be honest it is nice getting all of the cars, but I find myself racing the same cars I had already unlocked. (With the exception of CLK and Cerberra 12 speed). Just didn't see myself taking the time to get past my current level of all silvers. Now I can still continue on my previous, but also access full game if I need.

that destroys the fun of the game, its challenging and rewarding if you go for platinum, why not just go for a lower ranking instead of cheating? I am actually curious here. I mean, the game looses reply value if you have nothing to work towards.

NotMinus.. Already have the game beat on silver across the board, and I would have to race something like 150+ more races to upgrade to platinum. Also have Topspin to play, Amped2, Crimson Skies, LInks, Tiger Woods 04, Rainbow 6, NHL 04.. As you can see way more games than time. Have a wife and a 7 month old child too.
Besides, I still have my original game, so I can plug away on that should I desire. Cheating? Ok, I will consider your point of view. I look at it as time management. Besides, it isn't like I am one of those people that brags I did it on my own. I freely admit I didn't.

No doubt, that is why I got Action Replay. I am beat on single player, but wanted to ensure I got my money's worth.

Gran Turismo is more of a driving simulation than a racing game. The cpu drivers don't have character, it doesn't feel as if they're racing against you. You're driving around a track and there happen to be some other guys driving around too. In NFS:U and PGR2, it feels like a race. The bots drive aggressively at times and it's just more....fun. I can't think of any other way to put it. GT is too sterile.

Lokus.. Agreed.. I have had CPU drivers take me out in PGR2, and they continue to harass you until you leave them in the dust. More enjoyable that way I feel, but it is in NO WAY preparation for Xbox Live. Some people will outright blast you if they get the chance.

I'm hooked to PGR2

The car showroom is a damn cool concept too. I love walking into some of the rooms, pointing to my favorite cars (mmmm....Enzo Ferrari), pointing at them, then taking them out on the test track.
