PS2 Shooter game recommendations
 

I recently finished a few games I really enjoyed and wanted to see what similar games you might recommend I check out...

I recently played the first SOCOM, Max Payne I, Splinter Cell, Medal of Honor Frontline (and the GTA series) and enjoyed them all. Are there other similar style games out there that you would recommend I check out (I like the tactical, military style shooters - not much into swordplay or fantasy stuff.)

I know Max Payne II and SOCOM II are out there, but I'd prefer to look into some older games first while those two come down in price.

I'll suggest Red Faction 1 and 2. You've played the other good ones on PS2. I'm not sure how far you want to vary out of the "shooter" status, but Metal Arms: Glitch in the System is considered a good shooter as well. None of the aformentioned are military-style, but they're all shooters, and they're not fantasy.

Max Payne 2 for the PlayStation 2 sucks so much, avoid it at all costs. Get it on PC, or Xbox instead. You could wait til around the 20th of this month (January), and pick up Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon: Jungle Storm. Your best bet as of now, would probably be SOCOM II, even though the game lacks the excitement seen in the original.

I heard that Max Payne 2 for PS2 is not good - graphics wise.

In terms of real "shooting" games (i.e. the ones where you use GunCon to shoot at your TV screen) I recommend Time Crisis 3. In fact, find another friend with PS2 and Time Crisis3, i-Link them together and play together on separate screen.

I've got Metal Of Honor, Rising Sun, and it's pretty good. Some of the graphics really suck, but with most any game, there's good and bad.

Red faction's are a great choice. I agree with the max payne ii statement, buy it on the computer. I was not impressed with the new Metal of Honor at all, especially online, that was the weakest ever! I you are looking for a online multi shooter, there is one place to go....SOCOM II! nuf said!

SOCOM 2's price will not come down for a VERY long time.

If you want an online shooter the only choice is SOCOM 2, everything else pales in compairison.

Thanks guys - maybe I'll sell off some of my current games on Ebay and go for SOCOM II. I picked up Red Faction, Getaway and Metal Gear Solid for cheap locally, so when I'm done with them I'll look to SOCOM. Thanks again.

r u into sports? I own every tonyhawk pro skater games for the pc and its so fucking fun! 3 was the funnest, 4 is realy deep and UG is comming out soon. and the same maker made kelly slaters pro surfer which is fucking amazing! a must own!
