Edit: It seems not so far after the famed 1.10 was released that we see total failure of the realms :(

For those of you that don't know happened I'll explain things to you as I understand them. Someone posted the method of duping items in ladder on the offical Diablo II forum at www.battle.net The servers then got overloaded and blizzard was forced to take action. Anyone notice Battle.net says the realms are down for Realms down for emergency maintenance

Yeah I found this all out in the games.. as after everyone was dropped from the game you'd hav +30,000 people in the chat rooms all of the sudden, and we were all tagged for at least 5 minutes. Someone perfected a duping method and posted everywhere s/he could think of. Now all the memory and b/w on battle.net disappears. I can't believe how many low lifes are willing to cheat like this. I personally think that how one plays a game shows how they will perform in life. If you're willing to go to extremes to just cheat at a GAME... god only knows what they might do in their career.... :(

hmmm its moving good for me right now. Just made a game stayed in it for 15 minutes, then muled some items, some runes, and lots of gems. total time spent of about 35 minutes... I think thats good. Didn't drop once! weeee!

We just started laddering, and don't do the rushing and so forth, so it takes us longer to get somewhere. We're now up to lvl37.

I have a non-lader sorcie and a non-ladder Werebere druid as well. Somewhere in the upper 50's. We're usually on in the eve. central time zone.

I waited for a long time for the 1.10 patch to come out. Once it came out, I downloaded it, and haven't played the game since.

Anyone out there still play this? I just got back into it again after not playing for MONTHS because of the new patch, I must say it has made things much better. Anyone else have any thoughts?

i dunno about MP but SP got very very boring after 2-3 weeks
i took a necromancer and chose bad upgrades...i ended up not being to even get close to mephisto!
i gave up then.

Havent played for a while, but it has always been one of my favorite games, and i find myself going back to it again and again.

If you haven't played in a while, give it another try. Patch 1.10 makes it fun again.

I got Diablo 2 for Christmas and so far i've loved the single player mode. How would you guys rate the Multiplayer? and does the 1.10 patch really ruin the game?

1.10 made it better in my opinion.
But now Hell is really hard to beat.

Multiplayer is cool because you can get exp. when your teammate kills a monster.

i purchased the game back in 99 when it came out.

Up until last month i hadnt played it in a few years. Im loving it again. Me and a few friends have been playing for hours on end over the xmas break :)

Definetly look at getting the expansion pack if you didn't get it with your game. That opens up a whole new world and a whole lot of fun with the two other characters you get :D

I played single player for about a month then tried battle.net and became addicted to it, it's great except for all the 11 year old morons that play it.

I keep hearing that when the ladder season ends that characters will be deleted. I clicked the checkbox to make my character a ladder character and I want to know what to expect.

Also, if it does delete and i make a new character without checking the ladder checkbox, he wouldn't be deleted the next time right?

When the ladder period ends, your character will become a "normal" char. and will be able to join non-ladder games. It won't be deleted.

I really like what the 1.10 patch did. It upped the difficulty in Hell by an insane amount, which really makes you plan ahead in where you put your skills as you get through normal and nightmare.

Synergies is your best bet. Pick 3-4 skills that all work together and beef them up.

I used to be able to tear through Hell with no problems at all, but now, I've really got to think about what I want to accomplish. I still can't beat act III on Hell. More trying....

i started up. its pretty fun, when you are playing with good people. its just too bad its so hard to find good people to play with. 90% of them seem to be idiots... at least 90% of the people i end up running into...

Whats with this "Player 8" trick that i keep hearing about? What does it do? and is it allowed on B.Net?

It's a Single player trick, meaning that you can't use it on Bnet. During a single player game, hit enter to open a text window, and type in /players X (where X is a number from 1 to 8). This adjusts the difficulty level to correspond to however many players you specified. It increases monster HP, Exp. gained, and, I think you get better magic drops.

Its pretty fun to do nightmare, at like lvl 50 and all the monsters are real hard. Then you go back at like lvl 80 and it's easy as hell.

Players 8 is essential for single player. I used to play primarily SP, but doing all the quests is rather tiresome, and I have since found that the online game is pretty darn cool in its own way. Certainly a different way to play, but the emphasis is on items and character construction more than anything else. Ladder all the way.

Anybody here experience in building Paladins?

I'm definetly going with a Zealot type but other than Zeal im not sure what would be essential. I tried a build with Thorns but that turned out WAY crappier than i could have imagined.

I'm thinking about either Fanaticism, Redemption, or Conviction(or any combination that will be good) But im not sure which will give the best results.

Dragon2Fire.... Didn't you say you made a Hardcore char? If so thats why. They decided that Hardcore players should get a little buff for risking their life everytime they play.

Okay, I got my necro to level 86 and I think I'm retiring him (at least until I've had a chance to get either my zon, sorc, or pally past Hell).

Right now I'm working on a Hammerdin and he's already doing over 1k damage at level 42. I twinked my character a bit by giving him Milabrega's full set (lvl 17) for the +3 skills and mana/life leech which worked nicely until around level 30. Then I switched to a Suicide Branch (for the FCR and +1 skill), a Steelclash (for the +1 skill), and a rare +1 pally skill helm (temporary, until I can obtain a Peasant crown for the +1 skill). He's doing pretty well with low-level gear. Finally got him up to level 42 last night, so now he can use a HoZ for the +2 skills and +2 to combat, which boosts his Blessed Hammer damage significantly. Pretty pleased by how well he's doing in Nightmare. Just starting Act 2 now, so we'll see how it goes. Normal Baal runs still give good experience, and you can probably do those until about level 47 before the experience slows to a crawl.

This is all on ladder softcore, btw. I was lucky enough to find or trade for these items for my pally, but they are generally easily obtainable.

Dragon2Fire -- Since I started to burn myself outta D2, I figured I should do a Hardcore char. I almost put 2 hours on him tonite. He's lvl 13 and done with all quests in act 1 and the first in act 2. Fire Druid. He sucks until lvl 24 when he start filling Volcano out to the max. :) BUT.. now we both have a hardcore char, so we should level up together.. perhaps tomarrow. :)...er.. i guess thats today.. I need to go to bed. :D

Ok, I take that back...lvl 15 and someone has to kill me because I wasn't a racist immature bastard like they were. From that they justified that they should kill me.... Why the hell can't we have something instead of Keys, but something that goes off of our Birth Certificate. Sure there could be ways around it.. but if it worked this way I could make a game, not with a level restriction but one that only let people in that were 18 or older, or even 16 or older... as long as they have gone through puberty I'd be a little bit happier.

ya diablo is better now, i started my ladder character.... A hammerdin! hammerdins own, at max stats and nice armor u can do 7.5k with a hammer, magical damage. the hammers you thorw like whirl around you in a tornado motion. i usually throw a couple and lead the enemies through them. lvl 28 rite now and i do 600 with a hammer, pretty good. does anyone know when they are restarting the ladder again? i heard they are going to make a schedule soon but i have no idea, i havent been looking for the information for it

ok.. restarted the Druid Dragon.. leveling up in Act one.. lvl 6 right now... hrmmm

God am I glad I got away from that game. The patch only made it easier. ^_^

I'd give redemption a miss; while it can be a useful skill I don't think it's worth spending skill points on all the prereqs. I'm ignoring the defensive auras entirely with my current paladin, and am working on maxing zeal and fanaticism, with a maul as a secondary weapon, which I use with a few levels of charge for killing lightning enchants or anything else that can do lots of damage fast. Good for chasing down imps and pygmies too. I've never really been a fan of conviction, but I've never really tried it out, so I could be underrating it.

Yeah...i decided to go with Fanaticism. I desperately need it, my weapon doesn't do a whole lot of damage but it gives +1 to all paly skills and has a 12% life leech so it is a must for me right now :)

If only my axe or maul had life leech, then i would be set. But im holding my own at lvl 32 so i can't complain too much.

Need a little advice on my new softcore coldstrafeazon on USEast. So far I'm lvl 10 and ready to take on the Act boss.

Since you can take a spiked club and beat Andariel to death in Normal, I've been stockpiling skillpoints like crazy. I have one in magic, multi, dodge, avoid, cold, and the rest saved up. Where should I be putting my attribute points, and where should I be pumping skills to take advantage of synergies?

im bored of diablo 2 andhave beaten it way more than 100 times. all of my characters are 99, with items...kinda sad...but funny...anyways, i stopeed playing diablo when i found out games actually had more than 8-bit color!!!! I've just recently returned to diablo, i done playing my lvl 82 hammerdin, and am starting a javazon since i found some titans. and although im tempted buy the free items, i just play with what i find or trade for

diabloii.net has some great build ideas. Personally I think 1.10 made the near-top end of the game (78 through about level 90) way too the hell hard unless you are grouped. And since its incredibly difficult to find someone who isn't a child running some sort of auto item pickup program, ladder is becoming less an option for me :(

I just started playin' up again, after about 3 years with some friends on a LAN (playing with friends is more fun, also the same room :D ). ANyway, i was upset that it seems you can no longer gamble uniques. Gambling is a lot of fun :) :p

Also the grab-bag on item pickups is incredibly amussing, a race for the prize, people sacrificing their life to run in and grab a dropped item from a mob (esepcially when you're playing hardcore characters).

Although it seems most of the skills etc i remebered from older versions are now not as good, so i might have to spend time researching up what's good etc :(

i wonder how long it'll stay fresh again though. I remeber in 2000 or around when it came out, i played it pretty solid for about 5 months? although i imagine theres people who played a lot more than that.

good to relive some of the fun though :D

My main character is currently a level 69 Paladin, I got my Holy Shock, Holy Bolt, and Fist of the Heavens maxed and +5 to skills from equipment. Working on hammers now. I also have a curse necro and bone necro in the works, neither of which can summon anything, as opposed to my brother, whose character is actually named UM-Lagomancer.

If anyone has any paladin weapons they're willing to part with, my brother and I have dozens of mules loaded with uniques and set pieces, plus a few rares.

The game itself goes a lot faster too if you copy the d2music.mpq (I think that's what it's called) file locally, but I think you need to do that anyway when you play without a CD.

I used to be on East, but then a buddy started on West, so I just started there on the new season.
I have a lvl 41 Bone Spear/Spirit Necro (and a point in Lower resist, I'll put it up to ten eventually).
I have a lvl 39 Poison Nova Necro (they're just fun to make)
I have a lvl 43 Assassin. I can't think of a name for'em as its of my own creation... she's a shuriken whore, but she only uses one point in the skill... I'll explain later if anyone is truely curious.
I have a... um 8? Frenzy Barb. I somehow got a hold of two string of ears, so I figured I should make a melee char to make use of the better String... which is a damn near perfect one I believe.

Either of my chars wouldn't mind dueling. If any of my necro's got hit, they'd probly die, but the same goes for you. Bone Spirit... I'll blast a few and run, and you'll soon be running to avoid as I cast until you run outta stamina. :D My Poison Nova guy... I've taken down quite powerful barbs with that. I don't remember the damage but its poison dmg is 2 seconds. :D

My assassin isn't much of a dueler with shurikens as I'd have to pause for a second to shoot, but with maxed out Fade, my resists won't be too shabby. ;) (its lvl 21 or 22)

The Assassin is what is commonly known now as a Furysin. As you know, they use the Blade Fury (shuriken) skill to transfer weapon and charm effects over long distances. I found it an awesome build to mess around with, but I was having trouble towards the end of Nightmare. I was at around lvl 50 when the ladder ended, so she's but a memory now. I'll be starting her over when I finish up with my strafeazon, who just got hell rushed. I need a few more levels before I do my ancient's quest, but I have the backup I need to finish that without any problems. My near perf string of ears is going to my freezealot.

BTW, maxxing fade also gives you a per point physical resistance. I thought that was quite nice.

well i gave up on battle.net you still have hacked stuff .. each season so far has been screwed due to cheaters.. and botters using a bot to lvl then taking over and going onward..

if you bot, use pickit and trade hacks he firewalls ya... we hang out in chat.. lots of fun oh ya can use maphack if you want on his server and loader.. i use loader to load 5 or 8 chars in a game and use my sorc or javazon to mf with


btw best builds for mfin are a blizz sorc or a javazon

dont put any skill points in bone prision and find the marrow walk necro boots.. you get a lvl 33 synergy bonus my bone necro has like 15xx in his bone armor defence.. his bone spirit deals out around 5to 6k now .. and that is all legit items.. btw the marrow bug isnt a hack its a bug that blizzard didnt fix as of yet.

if anyone decides to play on enders just let me know.. and no im not plugging a site just giving an alternative to loser battlenets site.. i just about gave up on d2:lod cuz of battlenets crap.

my fav char is back with a vengence though.. a necro summoner.. get a nm act 2 might aura merc and watch just your skeletons own all.
