Ghost Recon: Are players cheating on Xbox Live?
For all of you who still play the original Ghost Recon online (I know that there probably won't be many, but I'm hoping there's a few), I just read a forum post in the Xbox Live Ghost Recon forum that claimed that there were a group of players who use a modded Xbox (with a mod chip obtained from Japan) to cheat.
A few of the gamer tags he named: Punisher Maw FormidableOpp Sheikh707 Among others. I think I've played a game with the Sheik guy before and it did seem like he moved faster and always knew where I was and almost always took only one shot to kill me. I'm not the best at this game, but I'm not that new at it either, so I can't say either way if he was cheating or not. I'd have to find him and play him again. So, has anyone heard about this? If so, do you know if it's true or not? Have you played with any of these people? I don't know. I hope it isn't true. If it is the game would be ruined for me (I'd even be supicious about other Xbox Live Games) and that would suck. |
No, there are people who are really good in Ghost Recon. I haven't seen any cheaters in it, although he could have been using some sort of a glitch in the map. The only game I've encountered cheating on Xbox Live in was Wolfenstein, they just were using their Action Replay to modify the game save for the game.

It's like counterstrike. If you stuck those guys on a map they hadn't ever played before, and you were a decent player, you could probably get 50-50 on them. Multiplayer games like GR and CS are based on memorization, that's how those Cal-M or whatever clans do so well. They know where people are going to be through memorization. It's kind of like cheating, but not in any way that's using out of game stuff. yaeh.

But then again, we PC players of Ghost Recon had to deal with this back in 2001. But never underestimate the well-rehearsed memorizers, especially in urban/indoor terrain.
Best online gaming experience I've EVER had, this GR game... |
