I need a multiplayer game for LAN
We have 2 pc's hooked up on a LAN and i want some games to play on this.
I have a pretty good pc, but the other one is not that great. It's about 4 years old and cant handle most of the new games. It's a Compaq with 500mhz K6-2, 194mb ram, 64mb radeon 7000. you get 25 fps on c-strike on that pc. . we currently play age of empires 2 and red alert 2 on the LAN and i was wondering what other games we could play. thanks. |

Try Cossacks It's quite a fun game on lans. Really large scale RTS similar to AOE, battles can be really fun, and they just released a new 3-pack (cossacks anthology) with the game and expansions.
Or another of my favorites, Worms World Party which is (in case you've never heard of it) a team based game where you have a team of worms and your goal is pretty much just to kill each other using tons of cool weapons, and has fully deformable terrain. Both are really fun at LANs.

Why 8 people
Why, when playing a LAN game, (oh lets just say hrmmm Diablo II) you can only have 8 people in one game?
And then on another game (oh humbug- lets say runescape) you can have thousands of people on one game/server thing? thanks in advance |

Maybe they only expected 8 people to play the game
or Maybe they liked the number 8

dunno, but with 8 people, diablo (in hell mode) gets really annoying because if you don't stick together, you will die really easily (at least with the new version) personally, i think for Diablo II, it's better to play with 5-6 people. anything more thatn that gets way too chaotic.

If you feel like a bit of work, Marathon is a great piece of MP fun, and runs on older machines. Think Halo without vehicles, this is where Bungie built up from. You'll have to download the data files, which vary depending on whether or not you want single player =D As you're wanting LAN games, I'd reccomend the Total Conversion Rubicon
