I think there's a thread about this like 10 pages back, but search isn't working so I'm not looking for it.
Eternal Darkness: Sanity's Requiem (GC) Frequency and Amplitude (PS2) Mark of Kri (PS2) Metroid Prime (GC) A surprising amount of people won't play Metroid Prime because they can't get used to the controls. -Lasereth

1) Planescape:Torment, it never got pushed publicly like most RPGs but it could be the best PC RPG to date as far as story goes.
2) Record of the Lodoss War for Sega Dreamcast. It came out late in the DC's lifespan. But it was a great game, much better than any Midway Gauntlet game or even Bioware's Baldur's Gate Dark Alliance games.

To critique a few previous posts.
Septerra Core – was okay, their world concept alone made me buy the game, but it wasn’t well executed. Xenogears – is a great RPG. Now some gems I played but very few ever heard off. Evil Islands (PC) – Think of a lighthearted Diablo/Dungeon Siege with the ability to sneak, do actual backstabs and day night cycles that actually effect the game. Other cool features like monsters tracking your footprints (which stick around longer in mud or snow), a verity of different environments and nice graphics. If you like slasher games then you should try this one. Tactics Ogre (PSX) – think of Ogre Battle and Final Fantasy Tactics combined. Front Mission 3 (PSX) – This game is as good if not better then Final Fantasy Tactics. But perhaps its because I like robots more then chocobos. The Darkest Day (PC) – this is an un-official expansion for Baldur’s Gate II. Rather well done, with new areas, monsters, character and some 200 items. How can any one have enough of BGII? |

I do know what you're talking about though; there tends to be a lot of those type of threads in the Chatter section of TFP. This isn't an example of one, however. -Lasereth

People who bitch about the controls simply didn't play it long enough to get used to it. If you play that game for a good 3 hours, then there's no going back. The controls are perfect for the game. But like I said, most gamers play a game for 15 minutes and then decides it sucks because they can't figure out how to strafe. -Lasereth

Gitaroo Man. Such a great game, it should be sold out everywhere. I've had mine practically since it came out, but when I see one still on the discount shelves, I almost want to give it a home.
Also, the entire Harvest Moon series. Granted, someone has to be playing them other than me, for Natsume to keep cranking them out. But they've always been sleepers, and it seems a little unfair.

Monster Rancher 2 for the PS1. What a fun game, especially when you and your dad have a combined cd collection of about 1000 cds. Makes for a lot of monsters to unlock.
And does it have to be electronic? If not, Hero Quest is the best board game I've ever played, and I don't know anyone outside of my cousin who have ever heard of it, let alone play it.

Tribes 2 all the way... I still love that game, and play all the time on the Houston vehicles server. I never understood why people didn't get into this game more, it's a great team based FPS!
