Games You're Ashamed To Admit You Like?

*This may have been done before, couldn't find any topics like it*

The game I'm newly addicted to is... this is going to be hard...

The Sims! :hmm:

Don't get me wrong, I like good games like Half-Life, Tom Clancy games, fantasy games (like Asheron's Call, etc...), but something about this game is fun to me, at least for a while. I enjoy climbing my way up the social and economic ladder, that's pretty much it.

I need to buy Black and White or something...

Harry Palms 11-30-2003 09:45 PM

Shaq Fu

Distraction 11-30-2003 10:21 PM

Any of the old wcw wrestling games for the N64.

Used to play those every day afterschool with a couple of friends. Good times.

Willy 11-30-2003 10:28 PM

Everquest.

The first rule of EQ club is...you don't talk about EQ club.

JamesS 11-30-2003 10:55 PM

New school: Pokemon games. Just shut up.

Old school: NBA Jam. He's on fire!

Really old school: Mine Sweeper. No comment.

dragon2fire 11-30-2003 10:58 PM

evil milk man i am the same way

guthmund 11-30-2003 11:11 PM

Pikmin.

At first, I just played to help my nephew along. Soon it grew to my own saved game. I've even went through it a couple times to get my time down.

Yoshi's story is the same way.

Moskie 12-01-2003 12:02 AM

Super Spike VBall!

I think that game is the sole reason I keep an NES emualtor on my computer.

Lokus 12-01-2003 12:11 AM

Wayne Gretzy's 3D Hockey for the N64 and Blades of Steel for the NES.

IckUber 12-01-2003 12:19 AM

Animal Crossing

skaterpunk 12-01-2003 12:22 AM

Sometimes Dance Dance... Pump it up....sometimes

omega2K4 12-01-2003 12:22 AM

Animal Crossing > You.

Mr.Deflok 12-01-2003 04:41 AM

I'm not ashamed of it but people seem to look down on it, anything on my GBA and the movie tie-in games for Harry Potter.

Evil Milkman 12-01-2003 05:37 AM

Maybe we should start a support group or something, anyone think of a name? :p Keep it up, some of those games I did once play. In fact, while I'm thinking about it...

cradeg 12-01-2003 08:41 AM

pokemon :)

BigBlueWrecking 12-01-2003 08:46 AM

Ok, I still play Frogger for PS1 from time to time. It is the newer Frogger, but it is Frogger all the same.

I also used to play Mega Bomber Man when my cable company started getting the Sega Channel!!! What a great idea that channel was! I almost failed Accounting because of it.

oblar 12-01-2003 09:47 AM

This isnt too embarassing considering my attitude towards most things, but people tell me I should be embarassed, so I will list them here..

Nethack (fairly popular) and Leygref's Castle (old game on my 286).

those two games rock... never did beat Leygref's castle.. stupid phantom

Plan9Senior 12-01-2003 12:50 PM

Windows Solitaire :(

Nikilidstrom 12-01-2003 03:56 PM

The Digimon games on the Playstation, and I don't care who knows it!!!! :)

archer2371 12-01-2003 05:27 PM

Yeah, Pokemon, it actually is a pretty good RPG, but I think the hype that surrounded it killed it for the casual fan, like myself.

Apokx 12-01-2003 05:32 PM

Pokemon..I played most of the games up to the Silver Version and I stopped..being obsessed with Pokemon at 15 was embarrasing.

(This was years ago)

I don't touch the games anymore.

Oh,and the beginning of FFx-2 is too girly :P
(YRP thing...blech)

emmdubbs 12-01-2003 07:26 PM

actually there were some great games for the Intellivision that I loved to play. there was this one airplane game i couldn't get enough of.

t3m3st 12-01-2003 07:43 PM

the handheld digimon games

HugAPug 12-01-2003 09:08 PM

Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets for the GC. I don't understand why I spent so much time playing it. That and DDR.

fameslee 12-01-2003 09:32 PM

umm... DOA xtreme beach volleyball? i was staying at a friend's place while he was away, and i went through most of his xbox games. but somehow i spent most of my time playing this game... thankfully i finally got sick of it, but for a while i spent WAY too much time playing it...

zero2 12-02-2003 03:04 PM

hey we have something in common. For awhile I was playing it so that I could get this swimsuit called the venus.

t3m3st 12-02-2003 03:16 PM

the digimon digivices were fun because everyone thought you were jacking off. I remember I was sitting in the corner of my class a few years ago trying to gain "distance points" or whatever, and my friend came over and sat next to me, and she started shakin it under the desk near my lap... it was sooo funny... teacher freaked out

zampolit 12-03-2003 12:17 AM

Super puzzle fighter for teh PS1

You, sir, are one of a kind. :)

Amarth 12-03-2003 12:12 PM

Pokemon. DDR. Harry Potter for PC. I think I've embarassed myself enough now.

GarthInPittsburgh 12-03-2003 12:15 PM

Counterstrike. :D

Or more seriously, probably
any of the Harry Potter games.

Dibbler 12-03-2003 12:24 PM

Adventure games like "The Longest Journey" and Syberia...

Mr.Deflok 12-04-2003 04:25 AM

Looks like we all love the Harry Potter games! And why not? I mean they're so beautiful, you can get lost in them for days.... *sigh*

melee2000 12-04-2003 04:34 AM

Yeah, most of the Pokemon games that came out were really good, in-depth RPGs at core. The little kids going crazy over the franchise ruined it for casual gamers, though. I played the Red Version like a year before it got popular.

You sound exactly like me back a long time ago. Ah, the memories of spending hours playing those games... 'Twas fun.

NeverBorn 12-05-2003 09:29 AM

DDR....

skyscan 12-05-2003 09:57 PM

Rune, bunch of people being as cheap as possible now, used to be a great game, kind of a 3rd person shooter, with swords. Great multiplayer, single player sucked.

Johnny Rotten 12-06-2003 05:59 PM

Mine has to be Bloodrayne. It's pretty mindless and repetitive, but I find it to be a great stress reliever. I'm also a sucker for scantily clad women who can rip shit up.

VitaminH 12-06-2003 08:59 PM

There was nothing funnier back when I lived in the dorms a few years ago to my floor mates then to walk by my room and see my big white ass churning away on the DDR mat.

Great cardio though!

Capt.JamesHook 12-07-2003 03:19 PM

Yeah you know I wanted to try DDR and I couldn't get myself to buy the darn thing, because I know all the guys that work at the game store and I didn't want them to see me buying it. I also bought Pokemon with my GBA SP, and not a lot of people can understand that one either. I also have The Sims. I do not think I match the gender nor age stereotype I belong in :D

cradeg 12-08-2003 11:03 AM

these old porn games on the c64 where you had to rubb your joystick like mad (like summer olympics) .. well was really funny and in my age this was hardcore hehehe

hilbert25 12-09-2003 01:07 AM

All the kirby games, and yoshi's island. God, I want to beat myself up for being a 10 year old girl....

CyCo PL 12-09-2003 07:25 AM

pokemon

MaGlC_MaN 12-12-2003 11:14 AM

Animal Crossing :P

Same Guy 12-13-2003 09:18 AM

samba de amigo (play with the shades drawn and doors locked)

(would play in closet if there was enough room)

Derwood 12-13-2003 09:36 AM

"Wacky Races" for the Dreamcast. A cheap knockoff of MarioKart, with C-Level cartoon characters....still fun as hell.

glytch 12-13-2003 12:45 PM

Well here's a new one. It's not really a specific game, but more of a genre. I'm horribly embarrassed to admit that I LOVE FMV games. I don't know what it is about them, but for some reason I just really like them. I had quite a few on my old Sega CD when it was still working and I even bought a couple on PC. Am I alone in liking these kinds of games? (Pretty sure I am)

Rabid Bunny 12-13-2003 08:27 PM

DDR
The Sims way back when
Pokemon

Scorpion23 12-14-2003 10:48 AM

Yoshi's Island for the GBA, I'm addicted to getting a perfect score in that game.

fienna 12-17-2003 02:06 PM

Animal Crossing... must get last piece of harvest series...

leo_cote 12-17-2003 04:11 PM

commando on c64 i knew it by heart

Gimli 12-22-2003 08:19 AM

Insaniquarium on www.addictinggames.com - a little flash game that may well give me carpal tunnel syndrome.

I love those little flash games!

Prae 12-22-2003 10:46 AM

Without a question of doubt, my game is Outpost. PC Gamer (despite how shitty they may be) gave a 90%+ rating for the game, but then went back on what they said.

Sure, the game may have been a huge letdown... but damn I loved playing it just to micro my buildings and do research.

dannyboy21 12-23-2003 03:41 AM

Pokemon , solitaire , and minesweeper. And this thing called bubble shooter...after playing it everything appears exceedingly square-ish! Dunno how many hours I wasted during assignments to play that goddamned game

Man/Amazing 12-23-2003 07:33 AM

DDR and Pinball

ananayal 12-27-2003 10:44 AM

hehe... outpost. i still have my copy. that game was awful.
back on topic, i got embarassed in college, when i tried to recreate my dorm room. i made the layout of my room, and put me an my roommate in it. in a matter of minutes the two guys climbed into bed together. i no longer put too guys in the same game. that was too creepy.

fik 12-28-2003 06:38 PM

*Sigh*

Windows Minesweeper for hours and hours straight, I learned how to get good and couldn't stop. :( My brain was in minesweeper mode for days.

intecel 12-28-2003 06:44 PM

EQ and Horizons... I never say a word about them outside work/forums (everyone in the office plays both).

H12 12-28-2003 11:09 PM

Boogerman (Genesis) - I don't care what anyone says, it's a classic in my mind and no one else's. Immature fun in an actually good game.

Awesome Possum (Genesis) - I'd rather not brag about this one, but it was fun for me as long as I had that game.

Easytiger 12-29-2003 02:26 PM

Carmageddon and Carmageddon 2. I remember my girlfriend asking "Why are you running over the pedestrians?", and my delayed reply was "...Because I can."
Bestest. Game. Evar.
