half life any good?
is the game half life good? alot of people play this online and i wanted to see if it was worth it?
Half-Life has been voted Game of the Year by more than fifty games magazines worldwide. It's basically one of the best games ever released on PC. If you have any interest in gaming at all you should pick it up and at least play the single player game once.
you could do that... or pick up No One Lives Forever 2. It's 14.99 or 19.99 in stores and online. It's developed by Sierra (the people who make Half-Life), and the game is a lot newer, so better graphics and fluid motion. It's just a pretty damn good game. Anyways, yeah, Half Life is good but personally, i wouldn't buy it now, you might be dissapointed 'cause it's about 4 years old. Wait 4 more months for Half Life 2 on March 1st instead.

I'm more with JackRuby on this one. Half life changed FPS games. They didn't have to be big tubes in which you killed random enemies and discovered colored keys. there were interesting puzzles and a solid plot. It's a very safe bet if you want to pick up a game. That said, NOLF2 is a good game as well (although distrobuted by Sierra it isn't really made by the same people, valve). The graphics will be better on NOLF2 and you'd probably enjoy it.
hmmm also, you buy HL and you get all the online games for free (team fortress, counter strike, day of defeat...) it's worth playing. |
yea i alrwady have no one lives foerver 2 and its a good game. so i guess im just gonna try to get half life.well guys thanx and is half life 2 gonna be online also?
Half-life is a great game. Good AI, nice puzzles, and kinda scary.
Anyways, it's worth buying it, can find a new copy for around 15$ and a used one for maybe even cheaper. Gotta remember there's also a crap load of great mods such as Counter-Strike and Firearms that have been made. |
Half-Life to PC gaming was as big as oxygen to respiration... AND similarly, it has yet to go out of style.
You owe it to yourself to get it and finish it before HL2 is released next year.
HL2 will definitely have online components as well as a single-player game. I'll avoid listing those online features to help maintain the surprise for people who are waiting for the game, but they're going to rock!
I highly recommend this game if you're into shooters/thrillers. There was more than one time where I literally jumped out of my seat while playing. Yes, it's that scary (to me, I'm a sissy).
Half-life is a good game, not realy a good online shooter, but the counter strike add-on is one of the biggest online games ever.
alot of games you halflife as base for their modifactions .. so get yourselft Halflife ... play the singleplayer and then start fragging the shit out of people in Counterstrike, Teamfortress ....
alot of fun for almost no cash :) |
Just the fact that a game that old is *still* being played so extensively speaks volumes about its quality.
YES :D

Valve is the developer that made Half-Life Monolith Studios (I believe is the name) is a developer that made NOLF and NOLF2. Neither have anything in common, except they use the same publisher. Quote:
This is where you pay monthly, and get all free updates, and any games made by Valve that ever come out on Steam. Of course you will be able to buy HL2 in stores for $50-60 (SP + MP, and a "Deluxe" Edition) where you pay a one time fee, and get HL2, and only HL2 games, mods, and features. I haven't heard anything (aside from rumors) about paying monthly for the actual online play, whether you buy it in a store, or through a steam subscription service. If they did, I think either one of these would occur: ---> They would make a TON of money, since HL is still the most played game (thanks to CS). HL2 may surely follow in its footsteps. ---> People may be turned down by the idea and say "screw paying monthly" and just not play online. Why would they pay for a monthly MP fee when they can just play Evercrack? Who knows. |
