Side Characters
Many times with Games, Role Playing Games especially, a extremely interesting character can be introduced.. and then wasted through bad development, not enough "screen" time and little or no depth.
Are there any Side Characters from Video Games you wished you could know more about, or would even enjoy a Spin-off based on them? For me, Almost the entire Cast of Chrono Cross. Way too many characters for it's own good. They were all interesting, and potentially great characters, but I always found myself wanting to know more. I also wanted to know more about Cait Sith from FF7.. but it may just be because I was confused with the explanation of what he was... -scratches head-

Spin-off game, you say? Revolver Ocelot. Set between MGS 1 & 2, it could have a sort of Jekyll & Hyde theme to it, trying to keep Liquid from taking control.
I agree about Chrono Cross. Waayyy too many characters to keep logical track of. I recall something similar in Chrono Trigger with Magus. He didn't have many lines once he joined the party... I guess because he was optional. I think Zero from the Mega Man X series could benefit from some more backstory. Granted, X4 was the last I played, and I think they're up to X7, so maybe that's been covered and I missed it.

Yeah, there were some very cool characters in Chrono Cross that we coulda learned more about. I can't remember their names now (I played and beat it within a month of its release), but I do remember Karsh, Glenn, and some other army guy that were all great. The one rockstar guy DID have a lot of side plot/quests, so that was awesome. He was one of my favorites. It's pretty funny when some of the side characters are more interesting than the main characters like Kid.
I can't think of any others right now even though I know they're out there. Games like Eternal Darkness excel in the side character area. There is one main character, but you only play as Alex for a small portion of the game. She's awesome, but some of the other characters were simply amazing. All of the side characters were playable and had unique attributes, dialogue, weaponry, stories, etc. I love that game. -Lasereth

Uh...The blonde girl from Devil May Cry One. Everyone in Phantasy Star Online. Everyone from every fighting game, ever.

No kidding! I wanna know about Kireek and Bernie as well as tons of others. The Turks from FF7 could have used more coverage. Especially the cooler ones like Reno and more of Vincent's background. I'm sure there are tons of others I'd like to know of but I can't think of anyone. |
