Legacy of Kain: Defiance

Has anyone bought this yet or going to? Personally, I plan to get it as soon as I can. Reading about it and seeing the screenshots were enough to get me.

Hell, I'd almost play it just for the story. Raziel and Kain make for one hell of a vampire saga. I've only played Soul Reaver for PS1 but that game had me hooked. The narration is amazing as well as the voice acting.

What number game is this? 5?
I remember the very first one with the super cheesy graphics...

Legacy of Kain was fun but I found the combat got really repetative. If they spruced that up then it will be a killer game

Anyone else out there? Want to know what someone thought about it if they bought it.

As soon as I get some cash, I will have this game. I played through the second one, and watched the first one. The story is awesome, and the gameplay itself is pretty fun.

So far I've played of the series:

Blood Omen 1, but not beaten. Disc got stolen before I could
Blood Omen 2 - Currently playing. Bought it for $8 brand new the other day.
Soul Reaver 1 - Beat it for Dreamcast.

I think I might beat BO2 and then get SR2 before picking this up. The series kicks ass.

My roommate got it last week, beat it this past weekend. He said it was fun and very pretty. The shortness seems pretty typical of games these days.

Bought it a couple of days ago, beat it yesterday. now playing through it a second time.

Must say that I am glad I bought it but a bit dissapointed at the story (it doesn't end with this game, it leaves so many loose ends you just want to cry. How long untill the next game?? A year, two years?? AAAARGH!!!) the game engine, graphics and the cool abilities the characters has placed this game on my favourite list.

The telekinetic powers that Kain has is kickass, you fling your opponents at spikes and torches that sits on the walls or throw them down cliffs. When you learn to combine it with physichal attacks it becomes a true bloodbath.

Raziel is quick and fun to fight up close with. His Telekinetic powers is a bit less advanced than Kains (at least in the first 3/4 of the game) but just as fun to combine into physical attacks as Kains.

The voice acting was a good but at some portions it was a bit overplayed and at some points it even became boring to listen to their rambling. Overall it was a good performance though.

The story did not unfold the way I hoped it would, but it still holds very high quality giving you your fair share of "Huh?'s" and "WTF?'s". It unfolds slowly in the beginning of the game but soon picks up pace and the ending leaves you a bit pissed since you want to know what happends next.

The scenery is stunning but becomes a bit boring after a while, lot's of repeat entries into rooms you already visited with the other character, reuse of textures, at some points it even becomes uninspired. But still it is a beautifull game to play through.

Overall I'll give it 7/10, a good buy.

Hope this was helpfull.

X-Box, PS2, PC and maybe Gamecube.

It's a great game but if you have never played any of the previous titles you'll be scratching your head a fair bit, but not enough to hinder your appreciation of the game. The architecture is beautiful and the music brilliant, definately one of the most atmospheric games out there.

I love this series, although, the last one I played was Soul Reaver 2. Due to school I havent had the time or money to pick up and play these games, but From what I've seen, it looks fantastic.

I just beat this game again. The presentation is what makes this game good. There's really not much to the gameplay. Dodge, hit. That sort of thing. But the mythology makes the game great. The series can't decide if it wants to be an action game or an adventure game, but as long as Simon Templeton is voicing Kain, I probablly won't care, and will continue to be a fan of the series.
