Care to quote this one and back it up with a source link?
I doubt it's really in the game.

However, MP2 is looking damn nice indeed, and I pre ordered it about a week ago off EB Games, 1 day shipping and such :)
Looks like its shaping to be all that MP was, and a whole lot more.
Havok physics (same being used by HL2) should supply some awesome visuals and gameplay tactics...

Just head on over to www.maxpayne2.com and take a look at some of the vids. Granted, not EVERYTHING is destructable, building wise, but you'll see what I mean. I can understand your skepticism, though.

edit: THE GAME IS OUT!!!!!

I've seen all the vids there are to see.
From what I can tell it does not have a gore system like SOF.
It does not seem to have deformable terrain.
Let me tell you about destroyable buildings, its VERY hard to do, and because of this, it is used VERY rarely.
The MP2 movies show about 2 scenes where the floor breaks. I dont know how they did this, maybe assigning the floor to something that breaks into sections when blown up.
But I wouldn't go as far as to say everything is destructable, because I haven't read or seen anything to say such a thing, and I dont think it would fit in with MP gameplay.

However, we can verify all this today when we get the game.

Nope, mine'll come in at the end of the month which sucks, hits US shelves tomorrow though I think.
Can anyone confirm that it's hit the shelves today? I've been keeping an eye on the 'warez' scene... doesn't seem to be very big there yet... which is odd, cause pirate copies are usually floating around a couple days before a release. Just wondering if it's been held up or something.

well, I checked the best buy and comp usa web sites, and they say its available. I'm gonna head to the store today and see if it really is, I'll let you all know if it is actually there or not.

And hercules, I guess I was mistaken about the deformable terrain bit. There are places in the environment that are "interactive", so to speak, and it does show those in the vids. As for the gore system, it's just the ragdoll physics. Its not a matter of them reacting to the shots, its a matter of the body part reacting to the impact of said shots. Sorry if I was unclear about that.

I've got a Bit-Torrent Link for it but I'm not sure if I should use it, I mean, it's one of those games I'm more than happy to pay for.

Nice just got the package from FedEx :D
I'll let you guys know some stuff, and post some screens about it later.

Oh man, can't wait for the weekend now! This is without a doubt THE game I've been waiting for all year.

Yeah, I think I agree with you there. Plus this torrent is going slow as crap. Not really worth the effort.

Hercules 10-15-2003 04:08 PM

Oh my crap. This game owns my life.
like 90% of the map objects are affected by physics, so its so very interactive.
Shooting over boxes or cans of paint etc, or rearranging things to set up makeshift objects...
The sounds, textures, maps, gameplay.. top notch.

Im on a 2 ghz, with a standard GF3 (64mb) and 512 ram, with settings on max, and the game is running very smooth.

I would suggest for everyone to go buy this game (if your comp meets the requirements), its worth every dollar.

Czernobog 10-15-2003 06:19 PM

Damn you all! Due to some unforseen events, (read: car trouble) I wasn't able to pick up my copy tonight. Hopefully I'll get it tommorow, but I'm not counting on it.
