YOu can use ASE (All Seeing Eye) to find servers, but the ingame browser works through EA and is also free.

video card - what should plan to purchase in order to make this game run? i am on a limited budget.

A GeForce 4 TI4200 64 MB will do the trick VERY nicely and runs you about $70-$80.

Since the question about video came up...

I have a laptop that I use for school but can also run MOH:AA on. If I can run MOH:AA, would I also be able to get BF 1942 to work? I have everything set to "medium" and resolution is 1024x768, and it runs smoothly. If I crank up the details etc then it gets too choppy to play.

(Yeah I'm saving up for a new desktop...)

Well BF 1942 is a RAM hog. If you have a decent video card and at least 512mb of ram you should be good to go.
