Whats a good game for a new computer
 

ok im going to get a new fully powered computer hopefully in a few weeks and was wondereing what games would go well. because my existing rig struggles with games over a year old. So i havent looked at many of the newer games.

Im looking at battlefield 1942, That looks fun. Is it worth paying for, where i am its still original price about $100($50USD)

Are there similar games coming out soon along similar lines

Im also interested in a good WW2 shooter.

Any suggestions will be welcome.

Battlefield is a good game, but you have to have a decent net connection, and quite a bit of patience to play it. It really does simulate what its like to be an infantry soldier, with the possibility of having your head blown off at any time. The other good WWII shooter would be Medal of Honor: Allied Asault and the expansion. These have a much more fast paced feel to them and are more arcade shooter in nature.

If you are getting a new comp soon, and want a good WW2 game, then I would suggest waiting for Call of Duty.
If you have heard of or liked Medal of Honor, you should like this game a lot.

Personally I dont like BF1942, because the load times for the maps are like 5 minutes, and the gameplay gets on my nerves.

If you're looking for a good FPS Unreal Tournament 2K3 is Awesome. The best thing about it, tho is the huge modding community, there are skins, maps, and mutators for just about anything you can think of. It's probably my favourite game of its type ever.

medal of honor, even though its old its a good game for some crazy multiplayer action

Tribes 2 is a lot of fun, if you get into it. You also need a broadband connection to play this. There is a lot of strategy mixed with FPS action.

Jedi Knight 2 is also a fun game.

Half-Life two is comming out, and it is going to be the best thing ever. Also, Max Payne is fun.

Oh yeah, and a good old fashioned fun, and particularly evil game, is Dungeon Keeper 2.

Its mainly RTS but you can control a creature if you want, so its RTS / FPS.

A really fun game, and its probably really cheap now.

half life 2 is cool and seeing as im looking at getting a radeon, it looks like a good option as they might be bundled together

I will most likely have a connection around 128k so hows that for online gaming these days

No One Lives Forever 2 is gorgeous visually.

i was always interested in the mmorpg phenomenon.

But seeing as im in NZ will it be likely to have a server any place reasonable so my 128k connection wont have lag. Cause i would like to try one. but which ones. WoW looks good but any others, how about star wars galaxies.

And it's going to need some kick-ass cpu and graphics power!
