Which is your favorite game ending cut-scene?
So which game had the best ending? Here's my short list;
Mafia (perfect end to the story) GTA III (short but sweet) System Shock II (multiple endings) Max Payne Return To Zork (only because it took me so f'n long to finish) MDK (after the credits ended...) |
Max Payne had a neat ending, I also liked the cut scenes they did in between each level. The comic book style was somethign different.
|
diablo 2. when you find out that it isn't tyrial, but baal :)
|
Max payne was a damn good game. :) really was, i liked the ending's of FF7, and Halo was coo too.
|
I liked Max Payne's ending, but then again I loved the whole damn game!
|
System Shock 2 had multiple endings? How do I get them?
|
I actually thought that the ending of max payne was lame... This guy has been putting bullets in tons and tons of guys, hunting for this woman responsible for his pain... and he ends by shooting a couple of wires and bringing down a radio tower.
|
The ending for GTA:VC wasn't particularly special, but the music was key. Baldur's Gate had a solid ending.
|
Final Fantasy X.
I won't spoil anything for those of you who haven't seen it, but DAMN its good. |
I liked Baldur's Gate's ending, and also enjoyed Silent Hill for the multiple different endings depnding on certain small actions within the game.
|
halflife
it ended like it began , like a nightmare |
Metroid.
"What?!? It's a F'ing GIRL???!!!!" |
Mafia. I've said it before and I'll say it again - movie quality cut-scenes.
Also Diablo 2 as well - I'm still working on finding out the ending to Lord of Destruction. |
Mech Warrior II
|
Mafia, definitely.
|
Spy hunter for the nes. O wait it didn't have a fricken ending!!!!!!!!!!!!!! FF ten's ending was really good but I didn't care for FF7's. After all that work my main man Vincent Valentine was left out! But all FF endings are amazing in most respects
|
Mafia
All the FF's accept for 10 Baldurs Gate Max Payne..although knowing the story of Max Payne 2 kind of ruins it. (he doesn't go to jail?! bullshit) |
Final Fantasy 7
|
Final Fantasy 6
I think there was a good one for chrono trigger |
yeah, whats with SS2 having multiple endings?!!!?!?!
|
I'm the other way around, I hated the GTAIII ending and loved the Vice City one.
The best ending sequence for any game hands down is definately Mafia. |
Mafia.
Hitman. (maybe couse I'm Danish) Baldur's Gate. Starcraft because it just had a good story. |
Starcraft - left me wanting more of Kerrigan
|
Xenogears and Final Fantasy 7. Awesome games with good endings.
|
Mafia.. just makes you say 'didnt see that one coming' hehe

warcraft 3...you gotta love the cgi in all the cut scenes....but theres just something about those sexy orcs
|
Mafia depressed the hell out of me with the ending, but somehow it was fitting. Warcraft had some awesome CG in it as well. But my favorite ending, off all time, would have to be Fallout. There were just so many possibilities and factors in determining the ending you got.
|
The ending to gta3 made me feel like such a bad ass for some reason
|
I'll second the vote for Fallout. The cutscene, the the voice explaining what you had accomplished and the results because of it.
Man I loved that game. |

Planescape: Torment
Absolutely perfect ending to the story. |
I don't think I have ever been satisfied with the end for any game. After investing as much as I have in playing through it, the end cut scene is always a let down.
Max Payne, though tacky, is as close as I will be to satisfaction. Maybe I am just playing the wrong type of games. |
My vote goes for a bizare russian nintendo game called something like Carnivale were you an escaped circus freak exploring babylonian runes in parachutes pants who sprouts wings and defeats random Chimera enemies.
The ending, is a black and white scene that says Congratulation Nothing more or less. Perfect in it directness and lack of content. A thumbs up would have more meaning. |
Sounds like the ending to Vendetta for the NES. You beat the game and then the screen goes blank and it says "Game Over" then it goes back to the titile screen.
Endings are never really satisfiying, they're just for closure. The game is the reason you play. |
Ninja Gaiden 1 will always stand out as the ending that blew me away more than any other. You had to work so hard to get it, and it was super long and really good looking (by 8 bit standards :D).
|
Another vote for Mafia here. What a fantastical game.
Zelda Occarina of Time was another goodie. |
Forgot about Torment, yeah that was a perfect ending to a perfect game. Come to think of it, all Bioware RPGs tend to have really cool endings that satisfy the storylines perfectly, like the character specific endings in the Throne of Bhaal.
|
Fallout and Fallout 2 of course. But I wonder if any of you knew about the super secret end before it gets started ending. I dont remember the specifics of it, but if you went to this place and talked to a guy, and said the right things, it would show a cut sceen of your tribe being burned to the ground with dead bodies everywhere. Really pisses you off when you didnt save before that :P Know whatelse has a good ending, fallout 3.
|
I am going to add another vote for FF7. It really was an incredible game, and the ending was nothing but complimentary.
