Unreal Tournament 2004
Has anyone else heard of this? As a super big fan of UT: 2003, I am so excited about this. I've read reviews that there is supposed to be a new engine, some vehicles, new maps, and two new game play types.
Anyone know when it is going to be sold? http://www.gamespy.com/previews/august03/ut2004pc/

While UT2k3 isn't as good as the first one in my opinion, it's still one kick ass game. UT2k4 looks awesome as well; thanks for the screens and info!

not that I play UT anymore.. but what's the point of making a new one the very next year?
Now there is gonna be a split in the crowd that plays UT2k3 and UT2k4, thus borking up the online community

UT04 is designing to work with backwards compat with UT03... a very nice idea. UT04 players and can join an 03 server. But, not the other way around.

Maybe they decided to make UT2004 since UT2003 was so sub-par compared to the first UT
Backwards compatibility is definitely cool if that's in there though. Makes me pretty happy I didn't shell out any money for UT2003 though!

well hes far enough that hes completely wrong... the game features mopre(and better) levels than the first one, the two new gametypes have a completely different style of play.. the vehicles are in no way "hacked" in .. lol .. the fact that there are as many vehicles as halo changes the gameplay of those modes completely. also there are enough new player and weapon models that even w/o ut2003 as a base it could stand as its own game. sure it uses the same engine but so do alot of things. They have even tweaked the engine enough since ut2k3s release that it looks and runs better...

if more new levels than the first ut2003 shipped with is only a few new levels then I don't know what number there would need to be to satisfy you.... and most game sequels don't have 2 new gametypes that are as different from the old ones as this

While its good to see companies pumping out games every so often, I feel this sort of 'sports theme' game is just a big effort to make more money.
And judging from the number of people playing UT2003 online compared to other games, its probably #5 game, with about 1,300 people playing on average, where HL has about 60,000 on average (and its 5 years old). My question is, if they have already made a game that is not very successful, why would they continue to make another one very similar, but with more content? I am on a mod team for UT2003, and I am not too excited about UT2004, and I doubt I will buy it. |

Hercules: well to respond to that.. its gonna be alot better overall than 2003. they have admitted to sort of screwing up ut2003 and they have concentrated on gameplay over graphics for ut2k4.. but with good graphics anyway(implemented after gameplay not before... like they did in 2k3) anyway i'm on a mod team as well... what team are you on?
