Soul Calibur 2

Does anyone have this yet? Which system should I buy it for? Has anyone been swayed from getting one over the other for the system specific guys? (Link, Spawn, that other guy) I have an Gamecube and X-box, not sure which one to get. Does anyone know if you can play custom soundtracks on the X-box version?

From the reviews I have read most sites say that Link is the best console-specific character. I'm planning on going with the Gamecube version.

I'm not sure abouth the custom soundtracks on the X-box.

I have heard no mention of Xbox cumstom soundtracks anywhere, so I doubt they are in there.

Debating the merits of the Cube version and the PS2.

(cube is prettier and loads faster, PS2 has good arcade sticks available and more fighting games to use the sticks w/)

Or, if you're a real nerd, like me, there's always the SC2 arcade stick available for import. Trust me: Once you play the game with that, you won't be able to go back!

I've had the gamecube import for months. I'm waiting for my xbox version in the mail as we speak.

Don't forget about the universal Soul Calibur 2 stick coming out at the end of the month! http://cube.ign.com/articles/433/433...html?fromint=1

I'll probably get the gamecube version. AND I'll probably get the universal SC2 stick, even though it's really ugly and I hate that design for an arcade controller.

I got the X-Box version mainly cause I didn't want to use the GC controller and I didn't get the PS2 version cause I played against Heihachi enough in the Tekkens.

I bought to of the old old Hori Namco sticks that came out in the states w/ Soul Blade and Tekken 2. They still play great.

I have decided to get adaptors for them and get the cube version.

I have the XBOX version, it is by far the best fighter I have ever played. Spawn the "special" character for XBOX version is the bomb! I highly recommend this game to anyone who loves fighters.

Peace.

I dont like the GC controller for capcom vs snk 2, and thought i wouldnt like it for Soul Calibur, but I do. The layout is perfect actually for the buttons used in SC

hehe I didn't notice the other thread till just after I created this one. Disappointing that the Box doesn't support custom sound tracks cause that would have made my choice much easier. So I guess its more of a Link vs. Spawn debate here. Oh well.

Well i'm personally looking forward to Link.. but maybe that's because I really like Zelda. I've played the demo a few times and i think i will really like Soul calibur2 which is weird because i don't play a lot of fighters...

Got the cube version. Waiting for my Adapter and a Hori SC2 stick to ship to me now.

Although the cube controller is better than I thought it would be.

My only complaint is that VF4:Evo has a way better training mode and a more interesting 1p mode (weapon master is great and I have been playing it like mad, but it doesn't promote learning as much as VF's quest mode)

Still, I have Silent Hill 3, Disgaea and VF Evo to play, but all I am playing is SC2

GAAAAHHH!!! why is it for every game there is always SOMETHING that people have to call "cheap"? Just because she uses a fighting style you don't like doesn't mean she's not a balanced character. If you'll notice, all of her long ranged moves can be dodged quite easily, simply by sidestepping. There is a counter for everything, you just need to figure it out.

Sorry for ranting on you, its just that I get annoyed when people label something as cheap simply because someone else has the ability to use it well. As another example, there is a game in which there is a gun called the raging bull. its a handgun, that generally can kill with one hit. Of course, the drawbacks are just as nasty: only five shots per clip, and its almost no good at long range (odd as that may sound). I've been practising with it lately, and have gotten pretty good. So I hop online and use it, and guess what happens? "omg, raging bull is so cheap, yu noob". You can understand my frustration when, in the span of a few hours, someone calls my favorite gun AND THEN someone else calls my favorite SC character cheap.

okay I'm finished.

Box it

I got it in the mail the day it came out from EB for my box. Been playin daily since. Spawn is probably the new char that fits in with the whole soul edge story from the first & this one...but does that really matter in the end?
I played Link and he's cool, and Im not even gonna bother with diaper dude from Tekkan. I prefered spawn the most and I liked the Xbox controler (the new smaller ones) with the gameplay than the Cube one. Plus...it's Spawn...come one....he's the champion of hell and totally bad ass. Plus on the box you get the better graphics. So box it man

Also...

yeah about that...Ivy isnt cheap. Ive kicked and gotten my ass kicked playing her. Granted she can whoop you while you're on the ground pretty easily, you can also just get right up parrying instead of sittin on the ground like a moron
There's no one cheap in the game, it's as balanced as the first

Mitsurugi is my character of choice, but Talim seems like an interesting addition and have been fooling around with her..i got the ps2 version, some lag when both characters do an unblockable but other then that it's fine. I think link has the best move list..but heihachi fits in better with the dark/gritty characters of the game (plus tekken was an amazing fighter, 2nd only to this). Spawn is just stupid, todd mcfarlene should not have been involved in the game (necrid is one ugly mofo).

My friend got the GC version but he just got an adapter that allows him to use the ps2 controllers, seems like a nice compromise.

I have read that Necrid is cheap, but I tend to own him w/ whoever I am using atm. But I could do without him in the game. His design is horrible to the point where I don't get his weapons in WM mode cos I have no intention of ever using him.

But yeah, "Cheap" is a bad complaint. Shit controls or bad design are one thing, but "cheap" tends to be used when someone has an issue w/ a specific fughting style (the one I hear the most is Eddie/Christie from Tekken cos no one blocks low )

Okay, normally I'm not a big fan of the fighter genre, but I am REALLY loving SC2. It's just the right difficulty for a fighter genre "button masher" like me, and has more than enough variety to keep me interested - which is usually the challenge when it comes to fighting games.

And, surprisingly, I love the GameCube controller for this. I originally played SC2 on the XBox, and found the controller clunky. It just seems to work with the GameCube.

I love the GC controller with SC2. It almost feels like the DC controller. Xbox controller is just too big.

I got the Gamecube version, as it was either that or the PS2 version. And besides better graphics, The Hero of freakin' Time beats an old man from another fighting series I don't even like much anyday.

The game itself is awesome. The Dungeons in Weapon Master are tedious sometimes, tho. Like the Swordsman's Grave one you can unlock after beating it once. Geez that's long, and they want you to do it twice! Still, me and my friends all enjoy kicking eachother's ass with this masterpeice.
