Gitaroo Man on the PS2, (it'll give you crippling hand pain while you're learning, though) and Wild Guns on the SNES. That one was a shooter with some futuristic cowboys- execution-wise, I've never played anything else like it.

I think Sega CD had some underrated ones... I think most people that had the system heard of them though. I used to play Night Trap and Sewer Shark a lot. I thought they were pretty fun. Okay, not the best, but fairly entertaining.
Now if you really wanna talk about some fun baseball games, I recommend Dusty Diamonds All-Star Softball. That one was just wacky!

I loved Tomba! for the PlayStation. Basically, you're a wild boy with pink hair who goes on a quest to stop evil pigs. Mostly by jumping on their backs and throwing them. The game had a great sense of humor to go with it's bizarreness. There was a sequel too, but I didn't care much for it. Mostly because it was just 3D, while the original was a repfreshing 2D characters sidescrolling along a 3D world...
Also, Ninja Baseball Bat Man. It's an arcade game, that sounds like a rejected Batman action figure name, but it's great. You're like these Robot-looking baseball player looking guys, each with diffferent styles of bats you use as weapons, and fight evil baseballs. Great stuff. You can get 4 people going at a time, too, if I remember right. |

What was that game where it was football, but played in a medieval arena? It was more like kill the man with the ball than football. Very cartoony, and you could light people on fire, stab them, etc. It was an arcade game in 91 or 92. MAN we used to play that and just laugh our ASSES off because it was so ridiculous.

Yeah, it was called Pigskin 621 A.D. back in the arcades. A real blast.
Speaking of arcade games (and I realize that I'm straying from the topic at hand) anyone else remember a game called Lucky & Wild? It was a two player sit-down game, where player 1 drove the car, and player 2 shoots. Crazy stuff- only ever seen this game once.

Anybody ever heard of Metal Marines for the SNES? It was a very rudimentary RTS game. You would play against the computer, each with your own island. You would build up your island fortress and then launch missiles at the computer's island or send in the Metal Marines (mecha) to destroy the enemy base. Lots of fun.
This was before Warcraft and C&C really started the RTS genre, so it was pretty cool at the time. |
