VIDEOGAMES you want to see turned into MOVIES
 

Ok, so we all know that spells the reciepe for disaster (Resident Evil, Tomb Raider) but say they got it right, which games would you like to see movie-rised?

Personally I'd love to see a Metal Gear Solid (about SNAKE not some pussy-assed bitch called Raiden) film. Of course you'd need a talented director for a project like this, I'd have to go for either Ridley Scott or David Fincher, both are capable of producing an excellent Metal Gear with a hell of a lot of style.

Another game which would be fantasic is Silent Hill, only problem is that getting a good director for this would be very hard, horror is a hard genre to tackle these days.

Anyway, send on your ideas!

And, I'd rather they not make any more Game -> Movie films. Same as Move -> Game. They both usually suck...

I liked resident evil too. :) especially the ending, i think RE2 is gonna kick ass. anyway, i always thought that Doom would be a great movie if done right. Metal Gear is a good choice too. How about a Warcraft movie?

I had always wondered why you ended up where you did in RE2 the game.. The movie cleared that up for me.. hehe :)

Clive Barker's Undying.

That game scared the piss out of me - but they'd need to redo the ending.

Yay Metroid! I'd want someone cool and unknown to play Samus though.

I dont see how someone could make a movie out of Quake

it has a linear story, not ?
it would be more action than story oriented i suppose :)
Tarantino would call it : a "people on a quest"-movie
multipllayer quake would be more difficult because of lack of story
but then again they could give it a "salute of the jugger" twist.

You guys know that they are making a metroid movie dont you? I hope it doesnt suck, but i dont have much faith, its directed by whomever directed "Final Destination 2" heh. OH well. It has potential

I think they may already be doing this, but a Devil May Cry movie (done well) would be kick-ass. What else.....hmmm.... I like the idea of a warcraft movie..... maybe do starcraft to boot :D .

Oh god...no more games to movies please. Every time this happens it's just a mess.

Just think about Super Mario Bros, Street Fighter, and Double Dragon and you will never want another game made into a movie again.

Devil may cry- very cool main char, and would be very fun to watch
Metriod- ^^ ditto
Warcraft- we need more quality dark ages movies
Max Payne- This would be one gritty,violent and damn good movie
Halo- I always said it would be a damn good sci fi movie in itself
Rainbow 6- Great book, great games, the movie would have to be good!

i admit, they weren't the most well done movies... but they were decent...

i think devil may cry would make a good one...

i really wish that they would make a movie about one of the actual final fantasy games... not just a movie called final fantasy that has nothing to do with the games...

^^ I personally liked the Final Fantasy movie, however, it would be cool if it was more involved in the games.

well there already is an avp movie,
and doom is well on its way, and i heard somewhere they were making a pac man movie as well(wtf)

I was about to call shenanigans on this one, but then I looked it up, and OH CRAP, they actually are making Aliens v. Predator. And Paul W.S. Anderson (of Resident Evil and Mortal Kombat fame!) is attached to direct. And he has said that he's aiming for a PG-13 rating.

Is anyone actually planning on going to see that suckfest?

Resident Evil & Mortal Kombat weren't all too bad...Sure MK:A was HORRIBLE, but the original was at least decent. He also did Event Horizon, which was a very freaky movie...

Come on...how has no one yet mentioned GTA? That could go both ways as a fantastic movie or a terrible, SMB-esque shit pile.

Actually now that I think about it, it would be just another mob movie, huh?

Just to redefine my position, I don't necessarily think Paul W.S. Anderson is that bad of a director, but he is definitely "B"-list. Which worked for RE, honestly, and maybe Event Horizon, although it took a while for me to appreciate that one. My main beef, as UnlikedOne pointed out, is the PG-13 rating. Maybe there's been a good horror movie (or two?) with less than an R, but if I go see something like that, I want pointless violence, gore, nudity, violence, swearing, and gore. Maybe a little extra nudity here and there, too. Otherwise, eh.

The Legend of Zelda! Truly an epic tale worthy of film.

Well, its a pen & paper rpg, and it was made into a game for the SNES a long while ago, so I'm gonna throw it out there.

A Shadowrun movie would be tits. Ridley Scott (beause of his Blade Runner credentials), Wachowski Bros, or my personal favorite, John Woo would knock this movie outta the park. With so many novels already written in the Shadowrun universe, there has to be a great screenplay lying around somewhere just waiting to get the green light.

Someone mentioned Shadowrun, I think that'd be awesome. The books were pretty spiffy too.
I always thought the story to FF3 would have been awesome as a movie or even novel as well.

And not to change the subject or anything, while I was watching 28 Days Later I was thinking to myself that it would have made a pretty damn good survival horror game.

I would like to see DMC movie made very much, but I'd like it to HAVE a story line such as DMCII but I want it to be good, such as DMCI. That too much to ask? I'd also like more of a backstory with Dante's family. The whole amulet thing and Sparda and Nelo Angelo/His brother, the name escapes me.

Also, I wanna see FF8 the movie, Spirits Within just sucked rotten eggs. 8 is very cool, and whether done with real actors, a tough job making all the weapons and finding someone to run around in Selphies skimpy dress, or done in Cg, I would love to see it. I would love it even if it blew. Criticize me all you want, but FF8 is my favorite FF. Also since most of the voices were never made, cept in Kingdom Hearts and those voices were total trash, you could use pretty much anyone. Provided it's not another Kingdom Hearts disaster.

So thats my 2 cents.

The CG in Spirits Within was excellent enough to make another movie the same way.

I'd like to see a true telling of one of the Final Fantasy games.. just one of them, not the crap they pulled with Spirits.

Or any number of RPGs really, the Chrono series, Xeno series, something epic. Obviously, there would have to be some streamlining and editing. Something akin to the LOTR movies.

This assumes that it would not get the Mario Brothers treatment, of course.

Yes, animated it would be awesome just seeing all these characters battling it out. Animated for sure unless they are willing to shell out money for the effects. Street Fighter-the movie was a disgrace to the francise. But the animes of the game were great, specially Street Fighter Zero/Alpha with the scenes of Akuma and Ryu gettin to the Dark Ryu side:eek:


Max Payne wrote the script itself, great game with a intruiging storyline.

Mafia would be cool, with all the flashback scenes, and the ending would surely grip audience who havent played the game.

Metroid would be a messed movie for me, aside from all the set design and cool graphics , the movie doesnt have much dialogue does it?

Metal Gear Solid could work if they got the right cast, and the right director behind it. A movie based off of a Final Fantasy game could work too, but that's a bit far fetched. Overall I think MGS is the bets choice for a game-turned-movie but only if they could get the right people in it and the right people behind it.

Agreed...Marathon (revolutionary yet mostly unheard of first person shooter by bungie, just after Doom II I think, with sequels) would make an EXCELLENT movie or 5 as well. That game has the best storyline of any game I have played in my entire life. Hands down, no competitors come close.

I think The Longest Journey would make a great movie, I mean, the game was almost like an interactive movie. The fantastic concept is amazing and seeing it acted out would be an amazing experience, in my opinion.
