Command and Conquer
I have played all the C@C games with Red Alert and Red Alert 2 as well. I read great reviews about Generals and went out and bought it. It was a great disappointment. THe graphics are good, but the AI sucks and the overall game play is horrible.
In my opinion Red Alert 2 Yuri's Revenge is the best. Does anyone here play online against others? |
well just so you know, generals is C&C in name only, if it wasnt obvious. so its unfair to compare the others with it,
I got C&C 1 when it first came out, but now i play renegade, cant wait for renegade 2 |
i've played red alert (and the exp packs) and the red alert2 series and both kicked ass.
ra1 was way ahead of it's time and the game is still great. |
The best level was "It Came From Red Alter" or something...well...it was the ant lvl with counterstrike...or was it aftermath. well...one of the two
|
Command and Conquer has always been, for me, Red Alert/ Red Alert II - never really got into the original.
Dune II however was what started my avid interest in PC gaming. |
Hardcore fan since Westwood came out with their Dune game. I'm a BIG fan of the orginal C&C storyline (c&c, tib sun, etc.).
|
Yuri's Revenge kicks.
What happened to Tiberian Sun? It was supposed to be so great, but... dude. It's crap compressed into CD form. |
I still remember the fact that after you won C&C 1, there was a trailer for tib sun,
How many years did we have to wait for it, and after all that, it was average |
the Tiberian sun/dawn/twilight + Red alert story was excellent. RA 2 was kinda a rip off.
Generals was great... for 104 days but that's that. The upcoming zero hour xpax looks great though. but thinking again, dont all game trailers. Anyway i think it's mostly 'cause westwood is no more (techniccally), since EA bought over them >< |
Twilight never came out :(... Yeah, i got into the original on a DOS 5.1... Played all the series shortly after they came out. I liked them all, altough the storyline was a bit shaky in generals. Zero Hour looks really neat, prolly same downsides as the base game though. Oh yeah, RA2 = Kiddy Gfx

I havent really played this game, im a war 3 man, should i try it?
|
I just finished a game offline. Last time I tried to play online there was NOBODY around. I assumed it was too old and no one played it online anymore.
I just play it in squirmish mode with the DeeZire mod and maps... |
your talking about C&C 1?
as its over 10 years old, id say it is too old if your talking about red alert, there are heaps of games out there just keep looking |

Does dune run off the C&C engine? I have to check that out. |

Never tried to connect since... |
Clearly I'm insane. I think Generals is the best one so far. I loved the first C&C, and thought they others were poor knock-offs. But Generals Rocks.
|
The original is the best by far. Maybe because I'm a little nostalic because it was the first networked gameplay I ever had or maybe because I was 13/14 and so impressionable at the time.
But I mean you just can't beat the scene when you're playing as NOD and Kaine comes in and blows the dudes brains out and then sits down and starts talking to you. I think me and my friends watched that mission overview like 30 time cuz we couldn't believe what had just happened. |

What does this mean??? No new version of Renegade?? Bastardized versions of C&C??? This can't be...can it??? |
Electronic Arts still owns all of Westwood Studios intellectual property, but atm they are more interested in developing sports titles and medal of honor games than doing another run of the mill C&C game. Westwood drove that brand name into the ground unfortunately.
|
I personaly like the Generals version
