Soul Calibur 2 - which one should i reserve?
Which version of soul calibur should i get
I think i've ruled out PS2 cause i'm worried the graphics won't look nearly as good as GC or XBOX... And i'm not sure about gamecube version because i'm haven't seen an arcade stick for the gamecube yet, and i must have a stick for this game... actually i don't know if i've seen one for xbox either... someone help me decide! please..... |
Well, the X-box has Spawn and GC has Link. I'll be getting the GC version because of Link, he looks great and his moves are awesome.
Spawn is good too, and usually the X-box version of games released for all three systems are better. I'm guessing the sound is much better and the graphics crisper then the PS2, but about equal to the GC. It really comes down to which "special" character you want, and which controller you like the best. |
Xbox.

according to EGM the XBOX version is the best one. I have a Ps2 and a xbox, but they say that the guy from tekken really sux. He's in the ps2 version. the gc version is good but graphically not as good as the xbox version, but if your a linkophile that would be the only reason to get it on gamecube. I'll probably get a cube soon, but i'll be getting the xbox version. Thats the word-- you decide.
|
Yeah, I have a subscription to EGM too. Says to get the XBox version definitely, even though Link is really cool in the GC version. EGM also said that the PS2 version has massive slowdown (!) and other miscellaneous problems. XBox version it is! I loved the first one, but I don't think I'll get this one simply because I'm not much of a fighter fan.

I'm going to get the X-box. Spawn will own
|
I wanted to get the X-Box one just cuz Spawn is ever so pimpin, but I lack an X-Box. And I've played the PS2 version, a leaked one my friend 'obtained' from sources I shan't name, and it's fairly nice.
|
X-Box. Although if you're mostly a Nintendo person then, of course, go with the GameCube.
|
the GC version and the XBox version look the same from what i have seen, the sound is better on the XBox but the graphics look basically just as great. I will be getting the GC version cuz i dont own and XBox and plan on owning one, and Link rules.

We went to a Gaming Convention in Australia through work about a month ago and got to play all three versions, quite frankly (and it pains me to have to say this) the GameCube version is the BEST. It is by far the fastest and the most crispest. The X-box version looks good too, sure, but it looked as the though the Box was trying too hard. Unfortunately the PS2 lucked out on this particular game, despite that it will still sell like mad.
Oh, and for the record, Link played like a dog! Heihachi was awesome (but that's 'cause I'm used to him), didn't get a chance to try out Al Simmons aka Spawn. |
I'm down for the GCN version myself.
I couldn't resist Link, and I think it looks really good running on the Cube. Controls are a bit iffy. If you're looking for an arcade stick, check out the X-Arcade - you can get an adapter for the Cube. |
im really not that im pressed with the cubes controller. I have never been a fan of nintendo controllers (Snes was the best I think) I have a import ps2 so I already have it. The cubes commercials look nice though. Ill try it when my cousin buys it
|
there is a fighting stick specially made for soul caliber for the cube.. you just have to import it..
http://www.play-asia.com/paos-1a-00b...=350&index=001 40 bucks gets it in your hads at play-asia or most other retailers.. |
nice, I will be getting that controller. Cant wait for the US version of Soul Calibur 2.
|
dont wait! preorder it at gamestop/eb/babbages today.. You get a nifty little character art booklet with your copy..and it comes out this month i believe..
|
really? this month? i thought in september. I love preordering games if i get something extra thats cool.
|
xbox, no question in my mind
|
LINK!!!! LINK!!!
|
I'm gonna have to get the PS2 version, seeing as it's the only console I have. I'm sorta looking foreward to trying out spawn (my friend has an x-box and is getting SC2), but I'm still going to be playing Ivy.....ahh Ivy, is there anything you can't do?
|
IVY IVY IVY IVY IVY
I don't have an Xbox, but I have a gamecube and my roommate has the ps2 action, but I most likely I will buy an xbox and all three games :) |
The Xbox.. it is The best quality.. for sure.
|
I'm surveying the joystick scenario myself. Unless I can find something for the X-Box to match the GC import stick, I'm getting the GC version. Go Link!
|
Well i'm not much for graphics, and i personally think the PS2 controller is the best for fighters out there (aside from getting a stick of course) so i'll probably go with that, or get the GC and get the controller adapter.
|
I thought i could play soul calibur 1 till I went up against someone with an arcade stick and got my ass handed to me on many silver platters...
your ass is served... |
XBOX
|
Actually, there really is no huge difference in graphics between the three consoles, except for Xbox having the full-screen anti-aliasing. If you're basing your opinion solely on graphics, get the xbox version.
I personally don't like spawn though, I never liked him, didn't like the comic book, didn't like the HBO series, didn't like the movie, so I have no desire to playing him as a character on soul calibur. On the other hand, I love the Zelda series, so I would probably get the gamecube version. I played the jap version of Soul Calibur 2 on gamecube though, and I didn't like the way Link played a whole lot. I ended up picking other characters instead of Link, but he DOES have the advantage of being really short and a lot of the bigger characters' vertical attacks go right over his head. It's really a toss-up for me, though. If I'm basing my opinion on graphics, I'd go Xbox. If I'm basing it on the special character, I'd go gamecube. If I'm basing it on controls, I'd go PS2. |
Personally, I will be getting the GC version because I don't have an XBox and I HATE their controllers.
