I want to purchase Battlefield 1942 and The Road to Rome on Ebay.The game is from Thailand though and will be shipped without the manual, which is in Thai anyway if I pay more for it.
Will I run into any compatibility problems with my PC or while patching the game or playing online? Also, since no manual is included will I miss anything important by not having the manual?

I wouldn't buy games off of ebay anyways. You're much better off going to a place like Game Stop, Funco Land, or Babbages and buying used games if your looking to save money.

Pretty much same selection, less chance of compatability errors and they are tested for useability.

My friend just bought Battlefield 1942 from a Hong Kong seller.....the box and manual was in chinese but the whole game is in english and everything is valid, game works online and it is a official game from EA. I have had no problems with games from ebay.

Yeah i would be worried about the key for online stuff too. Course you could prob find a key gen.

I've bought PS2 games from ebay, but I'm not sure about buying PC games for the reasons other people gave, you never know when its just going to be a CDR with a hacked CDkey, then you can't play the game online.

Most CDKey generators will not work online in my experience.

Check there feedback if it says cloned or copy on any then that is what you are getting, I have done it to try out a game before buying it.

Half.com for instance, I get many games new for free by getting refunds and not shipping the item back. Especially games with online components that require a CD key.
For the few games which I actually end up playing online I just buy them outright.
