Escape Velocity: Nova!

Background: For those who don't know, Escape Velocity was a neat game on the Macintosh where you flew around in a little spaceship, did missions or traded stuff, which earned you money to get better ships and outfits, and so on (very simplified description).

Well, the sequel (well, the third game in the series really) is called Escape Velocity Nova and it came out about a year ago. Now, they finally ported it to the PC.

It's shareware, but you play almost the entire game anyway, and if you get hooked you might even purchase the full version (I know I did). There are some ships, outfits (upgrades) and missions that you can't get unregistered and it expires after 30 days but that's more than enough to try it out.

Also, it's only a 72 MB download. Give it a shot, you might like it.

Yeah, that game gets a D for failing during the setup, thus making it uninstallable.

Edit: Oh, I guess you can play it after it fails to install properly..hallmark of a good game if you ask me. Well, here goes nothing. EV Nova, take me away!
Or you can just run it and then it crashes. This game ROCKS!

I bought the PC conversion the day it was released. I've been hooked on the EV series for 10 years now. In fact, I still play the original. With the possible exception of EVE (an mmorpg), Escape Velocity is one of the most in depth open-ended space-sim/trader/rpgs that is on the market today. All you have to do is look past the 2d graphics and you'll see a wonderful game.

EV rocks! I haven't had a chance to play EV nova, but the first two were my favorite games. Escape Velocity never really got the recognition it deserved off of the Mac (hell I didn't know it existed off the mac) but its the sort of game that can keep you riveted for days and days.

The original two never did exist as anything but Mac games until last week or so. Well, I guess you could play them with emulators but that hardly counts since they're still on a Mac. But Ambrosia released Total Conversion plugins of the first two games for PCNova so those of us without macs can relive the glory as well.

EV is a great game series, been playing it on my Mac for years.

EV: Nova is almost the best one yet.

I never had a problem, you must be unlucky. Maybe your download was corrupted?

You need quicktime to run it, by the way.
