curiosity got the better of me and i took a gander at their site. dunno what to think. first instinct is that its wrong.. just wrong. after reading a bit, i can the their intention. at least the intention they want to portray, i doubt they are 100% altruistic. the game docs show a really shitty game idea. basically its a maze game. you are stuck in the towers when the attack happens and you have to get out. thats it. nothing more.
last feelings.. its a waste. |

It's fucked up and all, but we have tons of World War 2 games and people died in World War 2, but no one cries any time they make a new Medal of Honor game.

a bit of difference. i think alot of people are reacting to the subject matter and their first instinct. mine was that you were the terrorist. now that would be sick. plus it was less than 2 years ago. we havent fully healed yet enough to see someone making entertainment based on this tragedy. btw.. the germans dont feel the same way about our medal of honor games or any games depicting nazis. |

If you were a fireman or police officer and had to go around saving people in the rubble, that might be kind of "cool", but during 9/11? Why not any other incident?
From the looks of the screen shot above, it will probably be rated M... |

At first I thought it was like 9-1-1, like the emergency number, and you'd haveta rescue people and be an EMS and stuff, which actually might not be bad. But soon as I saw the sites banner I said to myself "Baby, what the fuck!"
That's just very fucked up!

i just looked at the rest of the website, and im speechless. how could the mod designers be so ignorant to the fact that this is going to disturb a LOT of people? it seems to me they just threw away a lot of time and money simply for shock factor....what morons

Myself, like many thousands of other families and friends, lost someone in the tragic events of 9/11. After I started to read this, I realized the pain of what had happened still rings in my ears. My heart got heavy and I remembered my friend who lost her life on that tragic flight in Pennsylvania. In short, I think this game is a waste of time....even if it weren't, it is too soon to create something like this and not expect people to reacte in an angry manner.

It would be cool if they made it right, and stepped on as few toes as possible in the process.
Kinda like Half-Life where you're caught up in one big giant clusterfuck, and have to get out. What would be cool is that on your voyage out of that hellish inferno you ran into some of the real 9'11 survivors (the ones that always pop up on all the docos). Although it would be dull, because there is no way they can put in more than a couple of hours of gameplay. What I think would be more of a travesty about 9'11, if they turned it into a big Hollywood action movie starring Silvester Stallone, now THAT would be in bad taste.

I totally agree with all of you in that it is wrong and definitly in bad taste.
One thing I want to make clear though (this is towards Oscar but not as a flame and for anyone else but not as an attack or anything) that I'm patriotic as hell but I do know that it wasn't just about liberating death camps. I've seen many veterans and I've been at movie premieres in town with ones such as Saving Private Ryan and Pearl Harbor and when I see them cry I realize this isn't just anything...they lived through that. Obviously though this (9-11) has happened much mroe recently but I still am sensitive about some issues...though it doesn't stop me from playing those games. One last thing is that Germans are in fact very sensitive about Nazi related things. I know for a fact that Return to Castle Wolfenstein had been censored so no swastikas or any nazi like insignia was in it...that goes for any games nazi related. |
