hey all, a friend of mine says his PS3 won't play movies he's gotten via torrent lately. he usually plays them from a thumb drive.

he's getting a message that he dosn't have permission ?

I haven't updated my firmware since a month or so before the PSN hacking. mine does everything I ask of it just fine.

anyone have any info on this issue ?

I don't game online, so I've only used PSN for demos, firmware updates and some DLC. and browse the used cars in GT.

I'm kinda spooked to get on line with it now after the hack and what my friend told me.

It seems like his PS3 is working as intended. Try buying the movies on Blu-Ray, my intuition is that Sony might have an interest in ensuring that Blu-Ray discs work in their devices.

hmmm, I think they were older non BR movies. but I don't know for shure.

Actually, I was making fun of you for posting a question about how to get pirated movies working in a forum with a " No Warez" rule.
