Pirates of the Caribbean, R!!:

Has anyone played this yet? I caught a look of it on CNN a few days ago, looks pretty good, I've been waiting for a decent pirate game. R!

Yet I find myself worried, it's developed by Bethesda. These guys are notorious for having their games crash every 5 seconds. R.

I had the game for Xbox. It was fun for a while, but after I had invested 20+ hours into the game, I started to get 'Bad Disk Errors' everytime I tried to load a new area.

I have heard many others who have this game for Xbox complaining about bugs, including one that corrupts your save games...

So if you're looking to get it for the Xbox, rent it first.

I've heard the PC version is more stable BTW

Still in the process of aquiring it. I've already got a pirate hat and a beard growing for it's arrival, R. I'm going all out, the boarding other ships and killing the owners for their ship is really appealing to me. If only I could rape, pillage, and burn shoreside villages. AR!

A Bethesda game on the xbox that doesnt have any problems would be out of the ordinary, I'm starting to think.

I was waiting for this game back when it was Akella's Sea Dogs 2. Unfortunately, Akella "cashed in" on Disney's offer and shipped it out a bit early.

I'll try to find the Sea Dog 2 feature list. Suffice it to say, PotC is disappointing if you see how much more was planned. In all it's a cohesive enough gaming experience by itself, which has nothing to do with the movie other than Kiera Knightley's opening narration.

But, the graphics are beautiful, and there are many expanded features from the original Sea Dogs. However, some aspects were removed that made could make a good game great. Namely, the different campaigns for each nation, a more diverse economic system, and more ship specific features (collapsing sails, for one).

But, some light is on the horizon. The game is quite moddable since all the stats, statistics, and scripts are in .c and .h text files, and Akella said they will help the game community after they finish the European versions of the game.

This is very fun. I got myself a cool sword, then I went and started boarding some frenchies boat, killed everyone, looted the swag, and sunk the boat.

I should get experience for burying my loot.

If you want money, get the Pinace, it has the best cargo/cost ratio of all the ships I've seen. I got me three of them early on in the game and in no time I smuggled my way to $800,000. Bought me three battleships and decked them out. Although I still am only at level 5 so my stats suck. But horay for fast reload, that thing kicks ass!

I'm level 25, what I do is go out and board enemy ships, kill everyone aboard, and come back to port with 3 bigass ships in tow. Sell them each for a good 50-90k a piece. Takes about an hour to get a million gold.
