Go
I recently watched Pi, and learned of the game Go, I am very interested, but am still confused as to how it works, does anyone have any information regarding it?

It is the most difficult game to make an AI for. That all I know about it. Something about way to many permuations of the current board.

the idea w/ go, as far as i can tell, is to lay your chips in such a way as to surround the other guy's. if you completely surround the other color's chips, you get to take them off the board. i think. it's hard, though. lots of thinking.

i play I-go. I used to play online with Yahoo games, but now i just play on GBA and on my computer. One of my buddies is making a Go board from scratch , and another one has some really nice marble stones. Go is fun, but i can only get down to 13 Kyu consistantly.
To play Go, it's kind of like what cheers said, but you want to occupy the most territory on a board while using the least amount of soldiers (pieces). You cannot sacrifice or suicide a soldier on purpose. It's not about surrounding your opponent, it's about controlling the board. Here (http://playgo.to/interactive) is a website to check out for more info. If anyone wants to play online.. find me in the #tfp chatroom, or PM me. |
THere is actually going to be an honor's class about the game Go at my school this coming semester, they have a book assigned for it and everything. Supposedly ancient armies used to play/study it.

The old Chinese saying about Go is very true.
A minute to learn, a lifetime to master.... Great game. Mr Mephisto |
