get the dreamcast.. unless you have a list of known games you'd like for the n64.. don't even bother. The cartridge format will still make those games a little bit more expensive than the DC discs. The only good thing about cartridges is they dont get scratched and unplayable, no seek time, and they are harder to break.
Though the DC homedev scene is growing.. and there are a lot of games out there you can buy/ download that are very good. Plus burning dc games will teach you something. |

I'm totally with Jaun on this one, me and my friend Bean love DC! We get together every weekend and play Power Stone II until we go blind! I don't know why DC went belly up so quickly, it's got alot of great games and much better graphics and capacity then crappy old N64. |

DC and N64 are both great systems, but I'm gonna give Sega the nod on this one. There sports games where much, much better than N64's. But N64 had the Mario license, and DC has Sonic.

Plus, with DC, you can just keep all your games in a cd wallet, which I think is a lot easier to store than a bunch of cartridges. Last edited by a1t3r3g0; 04-22-2003 at 06:02 PM.. |

Dreamcast, because you can burn the games with a regular CD burner and don't need to chip it or anything to play.
There's also a pretty good DIY scene for the Dreamcast, people install linux on it, play NES and SNES roms on it, use them to watch VCDs, etc. Read more: http://www.dcemulation.com/

Yea I'd say Dreamcast. I bought mine the day Sega dropped the price when they were trying to liquidate the fuckers. Then I trotted over to my Chinese friends house and borrowed all his burned games. I got about 70 now and I printed off the front covers for them and got them all in slim cases - its a real nice looking collection. I also bought a green replacement case plus a cooling fan, controller cord extension, rumble pak, memory pak - all that fanboy stuff.
Moral of the story - Dreamcast is a good buy, you can do all kinds of mods to it, its fun! |

64, had a ton of great 4 plater games, and Perfect Dark is way better than Bond. DC was cool, but I don't like the controller.

The two Zelda games and Golden Eye were the only real games for the N64 that were worth buying the system for. Don't get me wrong, there are other good games, but those are the only ones that really would influence me to buy that system over another. In this case, I have to go with the general consensus, get the DC, many more quality titles.

There are tons of quality games for the 64 You guys have mentioned Zelda, Mario 64, Perfect Dark. But what about Donkey Kong? and Star Fox? not to mention Wrestlemania 2000 and No Mercy, which are the standard in wrestling gameplay that I hold all wrestling games to. Dreamcast certainly has the better sports games, but I can't recommend any more.

Dreamcast.
There are tons of great games out for dreamcast that are really cheap now, compared to other games. AND, the Dreamcast can emulate NES games almost perfectly now, and the SNES emulator is starting to show promise. http://www.dcemulation.com/ |
