Games you never finished, but want to
What games have you played, but never finished? Of those, what would you like to finish? It's an interesting question to me, because I have a habit of playing a game most of the way through, and never beating it. Short attention span, I guess.
My list! Baldur's Gate 1 & 2, and Neverwinter Nights: Couldn't stick with them... BG2 I really did want to finish, but some bug occurred, and my AI scripts were totally disabled and I couldn't stand the game anymore. Final Fantasy X: Got to Sin twice, got my memory cards wiped twice. Soul Reaver... stopped somewhere around Boss 2. Every GTA except Vice City, despite being one of my favorite game series. Shinobi - Hard game... fun, but hard. Legacy of Legaia. Lots more come to mind, but I could be here till tomorrow telling you. So, what do you good folks have? |

Final Fantasy X I was killed by the final boss once and quit and never felt the need to play it again.
Xenogears I've tried playing it alot but just cant stay interested long enough. Parasite Eve 2 close to the end but got another game and lost interest. Contra on PS2. HARD AS HELL!

If a game is good I finish it. If its bad I just don't ever finish it. One exception to that is GTA3 which was a good game but I had some major bug issues with it

My list is too long. I have a bad habit of never finishing my games. In fact, I can only think of half a dozen offhand that I've finished. Megatraveller 1, Fallout 1 and 2, Max Payne, Civilization 2...
But I've also played many games that have no real ending, like Dark Age of Camelot, Sim City, and the Sims. I got real close to finishing Baldur's Gate 2 and Alpha Centauri, but most games I play for a while then get bored or frustrated with: Mafia, Hitman2, Divine Divinity, Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit 2 , the Morrowind expansion...all good games, but I either got really stuck somewhere, got bored or both.

It would be nice if I could get past that stupid "Test of Fear" in Star Fox Adventures, and get on with the rest of the game.
That was a stupid game-breaker right there for me.

FF8 - I think I still have this. I just never really had any desire to keep playing it.
GTA3 GTA3: Vice City - Both of these piss me off because I hate trying and failing the same mission a million times in a row before I finally get lucky and beat it. Bah. Maybe I just suq. Half Life - Got to the weird alien part or whatever and quit. |

FFX, I've played the whole damn game almost 3 times through but never finished it, my first time I didn't level Titus and I had a good Auron, the second time I didn't level Auron and I couldn't beat the Spectral Keeper the guy with glyph mines, and the third time....I just stopped caring.
FF7 - A glitch keeps me from collecting one of the master materia. BG2 : SoA - I played it hardcore foor a while and just decided it was eating too much of my life. Phantasy Star Online - I'm in world 3 with a really good character...two actually. But I'm just to lazy to finish the annoying quests where you gotta keep a guy alive.

Games You Bought But Never Finished...
Usually when I buy a game I have every intention of completing it but sometimes you end up buying a stinker or the game just gets boring or even you just get too busy and forget all about it. So tell us, has this happened to you and for which games.
Me, Oni, I picked this up 'cause it was real cheap, played the first couple of levels and couldn't be bothered with it because the controls pissed me off. Grim Fandango, this too I bought cheap, I love the game but it felt like too much of a chore and it was too downbeat for me, plus the fact that I bought it years after it was released kinda made it outdated. Rainbow Six 3: Raven Shield, massive game but I've only played it once since buying it last week and there seem to be a million and one keys to remember, gimme Splinter Cell anyday! Donkey Kong Country on the GB, I had got myself to the cloud areas and I lent out my GB to a friend and the motherfucker deleted the savegame!!! I just couldn't be bothered choring through again though I thoroughly enjoyed the game. Last edited by Mr.Deflok; 04-23-2003 at 02:13 AM.. |

I'm about to add Legend of Zelda: Windwaker to that list because I just haven't had time to play it due to class lately.
But I never finished Donkey Kong Country 2, and it haunts me to this day.

It drives me crazy when I'm unable to finish a game, but there's been a few that I've been unable to beat completely for sheer mass of crap to do--
Pokemon. Can't catch all the little furry punks. Donkey Kong Land 2-- Those stupid kremcoins are the bane of my existence. I can't find them all, and therefore, can't get all the DK coins.

Oh, I just thought of 2 more. Metroid Fusion and Golden Sun both on the GBA. I think I am like one or two bosses away from finishing Metroid. I have no concept of how far I got in Golden Sun. I know I have at least 10-20 hours invested in that game.

Final Fantasy 10.
Great game, I just rented it though, and instead of buying it bought a sports game. I still have the memory card save if I ever do get a hold of another copy.

Adding Final Fantasy X to my list, turn based combat is just wrong for starters, I'd like to play a game more than watch it and the story didn't have any pull for me, I didn't give a shit about the characters and to top it off, I don't care how Square thinks Tidus is pronounced, it should be pronounced as TIE-DUS not Tee-Dis... he looks gay already, at least give him a hard name.

X-Com: Apocalypse was one. After 100 hours of playing over 10 days, I seemed to drain all my interest in the game in the process. This, despite I am still convinced I was within six hours of beating the game.
The other was Homeworld. However the computer it was on crashed, taking the savegames with it. Any time I work hard for something and I lose it to something like that, it's a real killjoy.
