Which cars are real and which are GT5?

saw this on Kotaku and it was clear that it's becoming harder and harder to tell these days.

GT6 will probably break my freaking mind.

So, anyone get this yet? reviews are still coming it but it's mostly positive. I'm gonna grab my copy in a few hours, working on some music for tonight, gotta take care of that 1st.

hint: the bigger images are from GT5

It depends on your definition of real, really. It also may depend upon whether you might actually want us to venture into this guessing game, but I do get the point.

Graphics = mind-blowing (for some of us).

I love the Gran Turismo franchise, but as of this writing, I'm still on only 98% completetion on GT3, so I still have work to do there, and my more than 3-year-old copy of GT4, which is inoperable due to some scratching, has not yet been replaced. (My PS2 might also have been stolen within the past two years, but I haven't really bothered to check if that's really the case.)

Back to the graphics debate for a minute: Graphics to me, however, are not the be-all-end-all in gaming. I'm not trying to beat down another way, but some just promote the 'realism' in handful of games and the consoles which employ them, and expect that's an instant sell / winning point. I much prefer the whole gaming experience, and above all, sustainable 'replayability' (being able to continually play the game for hours on end without depreciation or lackluster enthusiasm) ; and for what it's worth, I prefer an actually enjoyable game.

That aside, Shauk: did you manage to get ahold of the GT5 demo? I know it's probably two or more yeears old now, but I'm sure it gives the basic 'feel' for what you are expecting to receive in this latest installment.

(Oh, and to half-answer your question: none of the above cars are "real", as either half are either computer-generated graphics, or concept cars. On the other hand, they are all still real, being that if you were to point one out, the next person could logically follow which one you meant, ergo: it exists.)

Yeah I played the demo but it wasn't even close in what I expected, no customization options, one car, one track. That's not a game, that's not even a good demo. They said they're releasing a real demo on the 17th though so. We'll see.

As for realism/graphics. It's not the end all be all in typical games, but if you declare yourself to be "the" driving simulator. I better feel as close as I can with as many senses as possible. I'm looking forward to trying it out with force feedback steering and head tracking on ye old 46"

I'm looking forward to the soundtrack moreso than the actual game, being that I know what to expect from the GT franchise, and, on the whole, I find it to be entertaining and nearly on another level in comparison to its competitors. Over th past few installations of the game, though, I find it to have the "perfect" accompanying BGM to amp one up.

I'm not sure if I dreamt about this, (5% of my dreams turn out to be prophetic, believe it or not) or if I just glimpsed a runaway trailer for the game, then promptly forgot about it, but I was impressed either way by what I saw. I'm going to try to track down a "real" trailer / commercial for GT5, so I'm not just touting something I might have just made up.

Well you can (and there is a trophy for it, strangely) make your own soundtrack from mp3's on your ps3.

just came across this initial review, take it for whatever you believe to be relevant

Critics: Gran Turismo 5 good, but not for everyone
Gran Turismo 5 - Six years in the making, the latest in Sony's genre-defining Gran Turismo series skid onto shelves Wednesday. It's been far from a smooth road, though, as the game was originally scheduled to be released in March, but repeated delays left some fearing it would miss 2010 altogether. Those fears proved unfounded, but have the delays given Sony's Polyphony Digital time to deliver fans the polished experience they wanted?   click to show

IGN also gave MW2 a 10 or something retarded like that, while calling Bad Company 2 an inferior game. IGN is a horrible source for reviews.

anyways, I don't know dick about cars but I love this game haha. I just like racing and all the different racing modes, cart racing, tuner racing, night, snow, rain, nascar style, it's all in there.

I got it Friday and played it about 7PM to 4AM. thumb sore, GT5 good.
there are nit pics on some of the graphics, but noting that bothers me...
the only thing I don't like, and it bugs me alot ! is you can only buy aftermarket rims for the 200 or so "premium cars"...that leaves a TON of cars your stuck running the boring stock rims on.

it's stupid too cause usually the first thing you do with a cheap shit box is put on a set of rims worth twice the value of the whole car !

seriously, that's the first thing I've done with all the cars I have in any GT game, buy cool rims !

I got a white 76 golf just like the 77 rabbit I had in college (aside from the rims) it's fun to drive. been a little while since I've played GT but I'm doing well enough to have fun with it. the rainy track was pretty cool I haven't found the Seattle track....

hopefully, the wheels issue will be changed in a patch.
it's cool you can add your PSP garage to the arcade mode, and set your mp3 collection BGM, for the replays too (play lists edited in the game)
