Deus Ex mod - Tilted Forum Project Discussion Community

I saw this over on /. and was wondering if anyone has given it a go?

The Cassandra Project is supposed to be a pretty good (free) first player mod for one of the best games ever created, Deus Ex. I went to reinstall DE tonight on my machine and found the CD to have a wicked scratch. I'm thinking of picking up another on Ebay but was wondering if it is worth it for the mod alone.

DE2 comes out pretty soon...I can sorta wait. Kinda.

you might even be able to find a used copy of the game a game stop or something like that (one of the new versions of Electronic botique) I've seen used copies of DX that way. Might be cheaper that trying to find it on ebay.

Haven't played the mod yet. Hell. I never finished DX. it's on my list of things "to do" which only get to be completed after all the chores on the "honey do" list.

I never even thought of that and I pass a GameStop every day. Thanks. It took me a very long time to complete it the first time through...hard game, but fun.

Haven't tried the mod, but I may have to - if only to get myself all revved up for Deus Ex 2 later this year!

Can't wait for that game!

If you need to buy deus ex, i saw this gamepack at babbages that had, for 15$, Deus Ex, Vampire the Masquerade or something, and a few other games that didnt seem that great... but the 15$ for deus is great any way you take it.

I beat Deus all three endings. That game is one hell of a piece of work. It was absolutely mindblowing

My initial impressions of this mod are so/so. While it is graphically wonderful (they seem to have tweaked the original engine) the dialogue and voice acting are so bad as to be laughable. What is supposed to be humor would only be funny to those who laugh loudly at every joke they hear. The level design looks pretty good.

The voice acting is beyond bad. It's painful.

It seems like it was written by someone who just learned the word "fuck" but who hasn't yet learned the context in which to use it.

Luckily, it doesn't overwrite any DE core files so the original game is still playable. I think I'll go back to that...

I just wanna say that IMHO Deus Ex is a masterpiece. I have rarely played a more immersive, athmospheric, or enjoyable game. I cant fucking wait for Deus Ex 2.
If this mod is no good or so-so what mod should I be getting???

I actually just found this game. A friend of mine recommended it to me and I tried it out. Its a great game! It's a role playing game cleverly disguised as a first person shooter. What more can you want? Awesome game hands down.
