It's been nearly six years since HL2 was released... 3 years since the last episode was released... Is Valve ever going to release Episode 3, or is it another Duke Nukem? I've replayed HL2, ep1, ep2 at least three times in anticipation of the next episode..

I've always loved the half life series...since well the first one came out, in what? 98-99? Anyway from what I've heard we probably won't see Ep 3 in 2010 Honestly Valve has really dropped the ball on this one, they promised us episodic releases that were supposed to be quickly produced and put out...they managed two of them...and what? Got bored and decided to do something else? Is Valve run by teenagers?

I used to be a pretty big fan of the series and was all kinds of addicted to it but after two half assed games (ie ridiculously short) and the long wait for the next, I've really just lost interest. I might check out the next episode if I happen across it but I don't really care anymore...honestly at this point I've forgotten most of the plot line anyway.

The news is that Valve has a major announcement for E3 and that its probably going to be a complete revamp of the Source engine. Gaming news is speculating that with a new engine will come a new Half Life, and they will do away with the episodic content. This would be music to my ears, as episodic content is a complete rip-off. You end up paying 2 or 3 times the money for the same entertainment value as 1 full game.

Considering that the Episodes were a violent degeneration in quality compared to even HL2, let alone the originals, I'll let them take their time on this one. I don't want another half-baked level pack filled with infinite-respawn timer fights and escort missions inbetween practically on rails "driving" sections and seasoned excessively with LOOKITME cheap physics "puzzles" (oh joy, another gravgun moveable bar on the other side of a door).
