Anyone playing it on the PC? I already pre-ordered.
Very fun...great graphics and sound!

I plan on putting down for the preorder in a couple of weeks, I already played the beta a bit for the ps3 and I think I'd lose interest in my beta participation if I'm stuck to like 1 or 2 maps.
they might give out some free beta keys before hand though so we'll see |

I have been playing it for a few nights. I am a die hard BF2 fan so my brother who also plays, urged me to preorder and build a whole new desktop to play it.
Well, the graphics are neat, the design neat and the sounds cool. The Gameplay, SUCKS. Its way off balance, machine guns dont kill with 30rds, a knife from 15ft away does kill, bullets go pretty slow across the map, like HALO plasma rifle kinda speed. Perhaps a few patches will fix it up, but for now I am disappointed in it. Waiting on BF 3 and Red Orchestra 2 to come out. In general I am not the dude at the top of the score list, but when I play a game and die over and over and can barely manage to get one kill, it kinda ruins the fun. BFBC2 has even the most hardcore clanmates of mine calling BS quite often on ventrillo. I only have a few hours of free time a week, I just want a game that is fun, not frustrating. |

Playing it and enjoying it enough for now. It has the same old problems with balancing that every BF game has had, and it feels a little closterphobic and linear at times because of the smaller scale of the BC series compared to BF, although its tough to judge on just one map. Sniper rifles are underpowered, rpgs are underpowered as well, and helicopters dominate the landscape, but far less fun to use then in BF2. My biggest gripe so far is that all but one unlock that I've received so far has been fairly useless. My K/D ratio is a hell of a lot better on BC than it ever was on any BF though, not sure what that says about me or the game, but its something that stood out to me. Anywho, seems good enough in beta so far to keep me going until BF3 comes out.

I've earned several different guns for each class so far, and earned a some bronze and silver stars on those guns, but for the most part, only the scar-l and the XM8 (?) prototype have been worth two shits. The shotguns are all useless, and the sniper rifles, but if that XM8 is a peashooter, I can't wait to get the next unlock for the assault class. That sucker is brutal!
On another note, if anyone is playing as an engineer, for the love of all that is holy, drop a freaking ammo box every once in awhile. Now that I'm living longer, I'm running out of ammo fast, and no matter how much I beg, all of the engineers are too busy running off to die to drop ammo. So I sit there with my schwantz in my hands praying that a tank rolls by so I can hop in the gunner spot and continue with the smackdown. Rant over. |

Err..that's the assault class that drops ammo. I was having lots of success with the engineer class (rpgs ftw). Then I enjoyed a bout with the assault class. Right now I'm making good progress as a medic. If your team has a bunch of medics operating together it's sick. Don't get the earlier post regarding game play issues..it's a blast.

I think nik described, it, the SIZE of the play feels odd to me. BF2 was much larger, more breathing room, more maneuver and surprise. BC2 seems cramped like an old western town with one street.
I am getting better at it, though the odd 1 shot kill from some guy I lit up with a full M1 mag, then I see he has 100% health and he killed me with the HK sl8. Me AND my buds go, "WTF" a lot in this game. Though I do like the ballistic RPGs, you really have to arc and aim ahead, I never hit anything really but one day I will, and THAT day, I will celebrate! |

What map are you talking about? That might help? I know the assault/defend whatever mode that they have in the demo right now restricts you to the relevant portion of the map to keep the action handy. One thing I didn't particularly care for in the original BF1942 was I could run around for freakin 10 minutes before finding any action, and sometimes when I did it was just me getting sniped staring at the respawn map going, "great, here goes another 10 minutes of my life trying to get back to that spot"
but the maps, if you consider all the parts that the defenders have to fall back to, are actually quite large. |

While I can only comment on the demo map, it is much smaller than any BF2 map, and extremely linear. Now that is also on Rush mode, and may change in other play modes, much like BF2 maps can be sized to match a smaller number of players. Hopefully other maps will have more range, making helicopters fun to use, and vehicle combat in general more enjoyable.

Yeah, that whole Rush mode is something I have never played before so its odd. I really want 64+ players, 32 seems too small. I like complete chaos going on.
Yeah in Red Orchestra and BF1942 there were those times droning to get to the battle then boom, you die and do it all over again. No thanks. |
