I love mine. I play it way more often than my 360. There's enough exclusives for it now to make it worth it. Not to mention Uncharted 2 is about to come out and it's sitting at 97 on Metacritic - Movie Reviews, TV Reviews, Game Reviews, and Music Reviews right now.

My PS3 is reserved for exclusive games and as a blu-ray player only. The machine is good though. I've not had an problems out of mine and I have a really early model that I've lugged it around quite often between houses. There are some good exclusives games on the system too. Metal Gear, Rachet and Clank, Little Big Planet and soon to be Uncharted 2, God of War 3, Gran Turismo 5, Heavy Rain and more.
I definitely think the PS3 is moving ahead of the 360 in terms of value at the moment. There are some really good games on XBL but the sheer number of exclusive content coming to the PS3 and the recent price drop is really helping it.

I bought mine the day the slim came out and I love it so so so much. It's amazing. Playing Killzone 2 right now and I love it! My roommate has a 360 and the PS3 blows it out of the water in terms of games in my opinion.

I bought mine in December of 2007. BD-ROM drive went 3 days after one year warranty expired. I had to pay Sony $160 to get it replaced. The replacement unit's BD-ROM drive died 2.5 months after I got it from them. Thankfully, it was still under warranty and was replaced. I'm on my 3rd PS3 in a year and a half. I have never, in my entire gaming career, had a console break on me. Still have my launch PS2 in working order.
Unlucky, I guess. Happy with it otherwise. I use it more as a media server than gaming, actually. It's about 60/40.

you may as well consider the ps3 slim sony's "ReLaunch" of the console, it's been breaking sales charts so badly in japan since then that they're afraid there will be a console shortage for the holidays.
I love mine, I have it hooked up HDMI style to my 46" LCD and running off the media server on my PC so i've got a huge library of on-demand content to watch, as well as about 10 games. The playstation network was a pain in the ass to register my creidt card for but that's just cuz they're super anal and want the extended 4 digit zip code as well on the address or the whole thing falls through, I figured that out the hard way after I got myself locked out for like 48 hours cuz of too many attempts. Apparently it's more reliable than the 360 consoles, we'll see, I put mine thru heavy use (on 24/7, if it's not playing games, it's playing movies/tv, and if not playing movies/tv, it's playing music with the visualization running) |

PS3s are laughably more reliable than 360s. 54% of all 360s have had the red ring of death.

as a universal gamer, i mostly am glad i went ps3 for the movies and all the ps2 games i have for nostalgia. i also have always revered the pstation controller above all.
my only caveat is a twinge of missing out when i hear about any mario, metroid, zelda, punch out!! or related oldschool franchise. i think that regret is creeping away as ps3 improves over time in the big picture though.

I wouldn't give up my PS3 for anything.
I had a 60 gig launch system that I borked, it's out there if anyone is really curious as to how I broke it. I replaced it with an 80 gig system and still play the crap out of it. Uncharted 2 is a blast so far and I have yet to really dabble with the online multiplayer aspect of it, I did beta test so I have a good idea of what it will be like once I do though.
