Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2

I just pre-ordered this from gamestop today for the 360. It looks like a lot of fun. Plus if you pre-order from gamestop you get an exclusive code to download and play Juggernaut.

I'm very excited for the 4 play couch-coop button mashing madness. Anyone else thinking about getting this?

I hope marvel universe online looks that good. Anyone know if its the same people, or if one is borrowing from the other?

It's looking really good, I just hope they've made it more challenging than the last one. There was no real need to ever switch characters - I only ever switched to one of the other guys on my team when I got bored. There was no real need for tanks either, and no healers at all (unless you unlocked the quite broken Silver Surfer).

This was released yesterday. Here are my initial impressions.

1) It is a 3rd person action RPG game. The RPG aspect isn't huge but your characters do level and you can spend points to improve your characters abilities and stats. At any time you can your spent points away from your character and place them somewhere else. This is a nice feature. You also collect "equipment" throughout the game that can improve character stats.

2) There are a tun of unlocks in this game which should be fun to discover. Each character has abilities that must be unlocked, there is equipment (really just medals which give your team boosts) which must be found, and many characters must be unlocked.

3) Multiplayer coop is a lot of fun. I have only played 2 player but i'm betting 4 player would be awesome.

4) Fusions are awesome. Each combination of heros have a unique fusion attack though some of the fusions seem like the exact same. For example, juggernaut picks up a slab of concrete and iron man charges it with a laser, juggernaut picks up a slab of concrete and iceman charges it with an ice beam, juggernaut picks up a slab of concrete and the torch charges it with a flame....

5) Juggernaut is a beast though he is only available as a pre-order bonus. Thus if you want juggernaut you better buy a code on ebay ASAP.

Are certain stats linked to the outfit the hero is wearing like the previous game? It's not a big deal but it was one of the things that I really felt took away from customizing a team.

Upping the difficulty, especially later in the game would also be nice too. I have a feeling the story is better than the first.

I'm probably gonna pick the game up in a few weeks.

I'm not sure about costumes and stats, I haven't heard of any bonuses for wearing other costumes though. Right now i'm playing on the hardest difficulty they let you start off with and it was mildly difficult at first because I didn't know what I was doing but it seems to be getting easier.

Just found the first bug in the NYC level. I think I beat everything and found everything and keep wandering in circles. I found several other folks online who just had to reboot and start again.....dang.

Rented it. Was boring to me after playing Batman, the melee combat system in that game is 2000x better than this. This just made me wanna snooze considering after playing through like 5 missions I realized all I had really been doing is pointing in the general direction of what I want to kill and mashing x, but the animations don't really work with eachother. Like I guess I'm a snob and spoiled by batman again, but the way things reacted to being punched and kicked was more dynamic and contact point responsive, this is just like "ok superhero guy throwing punches in the right direction, play "oof I got hit" animation even though it doesn't really match up.

I will admit, deadpool's lines cracked me up, some of the bosses are tough but nothing spamming your superpowers wont get you through.

Are you talking about Arkham Asylum, Shauk?

How can you even compare Batman: AA to MUA2? They're totally different games. One is a third person action adventure with combat and stealth elements, while the other is a co-op Gauntlet style button mashing dungeon crawler.

I can compare them just fine. they're both able to be played single player, the camera angle doesn't really matter to me because once melee is engaged the camera is pretty similar (albeit closer to the action) with the 3/4th overhead angle going on.

AA was a smarter game, MUA2 makes me feel like I require a bib to play. I hated it in comparison.

MUA2 is all about co-op button mashing. It is a completely different than AA. You can compare them if you are asking which one you should buy but you can't really compare them as if they are the same type of game.

The game is fairly repetitive but still pretty fun. I'm sure i'll get tired of it pretty fast and might even trade it for something else because I don't know how much replay value there is in the game. Right now it is just to easy.

Won it. The game had some serious bugs in it later on.

My brother told me about he got stuck in walls and had to reload his game, while this never happened to me I did have some of my own. While using Venom, if I used his tongue lash at all he would no longer do any damage, his attacks essentially did nothing. Things like that started to happen.

Played it on regular difficulty and it was horribly easy, I do not recommend playing this on anything easier than the hardest setting!

Probably took me 10-12 hours to win. So not a very long game.
