Crash Course isn't doing much for me.

The map rounds are long..but succeptible to rage quitting.

They have tanks super consistently; i guess that's their way of making a "quick game".

The first round is super hard to pass if the infected are halfway competent. Too difficult for survivors imho.

The demo is pretty fun so far.

I'm still not sure how i feel about zombies during the day. I thought the night time settings of the first Left 4 Dead were great and added a lot to the atmosphere of freaky spookiness.

I found the levels in the demo to be a bit more confusing than the original as to where to go and how to get places. There are arrows around to point you in the right direction but it was still kinda easy to get turned around and not know where i was going.

The new weapons are pretty good, i'd rather use a pistol than a melee weapon tho.

Having witches that wander will certainly spice things up a bit i think. A bit harder to avoid. The new special infected seem ok. The spitter has a lot of potential.

I absolutely LOVE all the gore in this version. When a zombie gets hit with a bullet there are nice bloody goopy wounds that open up where they're hit.

Us PC users are still waiting. Valve really fucked us this time around.

I think if anything is fucked, it is the overpowering sense of entitlement displayed by a passionate minority of PC gamers.

PC Gamers aren't as big a minority as some would think, I think piracy just takes a majority of them "off the grid" when it comes to figuring out the retail market.

So when they actually DO pay for something, I'm sure they'd like to feel rewarded and incentive for doing so.

I mean shit, WoW has like, what, 15 million players at this point? that doesn't sound like a minority to me.

Oh, it wasn't preferential treatment to consoles. The release to XBox live was handled by Microsoft, I believe, it's just that Valve probably wanted to iron out a couple things before releasing it.
I was just angry, and being a whiny gamer.

To be honest, I was more pissed at the lack of communication by Valve than the delay. I would have been a lot more patient had they released a statement explaining the delay. Instead, they let gamers wait til a scheduled release time, get pissed that it wouldn't get released, then post another one, not release on time for that one, and kept doing that for over 24 hours.

Well in the case of borderlands (different game i know, but still Steam related)

the game was out on consoles on the 20th, pc was delayed til the 26th. rabble rabble right? rumors abound, official statement was special PC optimizations, which aren't really apparent at all. others say it was a money grab to get as many console sales as they could before the pc version came out and got pirated.

well guess what happened, Steam had my preorder money for a week, and in that week, console gamers got to max up and beat the game, pirates obtained a reviewer copy before the game even came out on retail, completely absent of any copy protection/anti piracy. So they can play online because..

1. no official matchmaking service, they pawned it off to gamestop.
2. you don't even need a cd key to install it anyway and it doesn't check it apparently for any other purpose than start up.

essentially it sounds like the retail version with a no cd crack would be identical to the review copy.

I guess I got the game last, for being a good customer :\

I think I'll take your suggestion and show some sensitivity to the overly sensitive pewling coming from the churning litter of PC gamers who've been completely "fucked over" by Valve making a sequel to Left 4 Dead.

Also, I never said that PC gamers were a minority. I said a passionate minority of PC gamers had an overdeveloped sense of entitlement. I mean shit, I never realized that a likely awesome sequel to an awesome game could be something to get offended about. Now that I think about it, I'm pissed!!! I mean to encounter a minority should be a rare thing, a bit more shocking i'd think, but to imply it's not shocking conveys to me that you classify more than just a minority of PC gamers as hyper-entitled. :)

silly thing to argue over really, I don't even really care for the L4D games, gave me a headache in less than 10 minutes, something about that particular FPS engine, I dunno.

Hey everyone. I am thinking of saving some dough by buying a L4D2 4-pack for PC. Cynthetiq mentioned he might be in for it, and I'm looking for 2 more folks to make it worthwhile. I did the math and it works out to about $34 each (so an $11 savings from pre-order, and a $16 savings from full price).

lots of sandy vagina in this thread. I was on the cusp of buying L4D when L4D2 was announced... Pre-ordered it a few days ago, have been playing the demo for a few days. Seems pretty fun. Only played 1 or 2 rounds of L4D so I feel like the purchase is entirely worth while, based on what I've seen so far.

I finally got on a team that was good enough to beat the demo on expert on the 360. Man a lot of people suck at this game.

The people that I find the most annoying are the ones that run ahead to get all of the items, use their health packs when they are mostly full so they can pick up another health pack, etc, run ahead to get all the kills because it helps their ego. Basically those that don't know how to play as a team.

People are figuring out how to play as infected (on the PC). However, they're having trouble increasing the 4 player limit, so it's only like half-versus.

But playing as the new infected is definitely fun. :) I can't wait for November 17th.

Played through the L4D2 demo last night. I liked it. I wish it had more gameplay available. But it's a good demo. And it ran just fine on my C2D 2.13 Ghz/ Nvidia 8600 GTS 256MB.

I like the game but have been distracted by a few things from work to Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. It's hard to switch back and forth so L4D2 has been sitting.
