Far Cry
Hi all. I was just digging through some stuff and found the PC game Far Cry. I had forgotten that I had bought the game back in 2004 or 5. Does anybody still play this game, and is it any good? I can tell you this: I'm spoiled by games coming on DVD now. A 5-CD install of a game is just amazingly annoying now!

It's too long. It's very fun for the first half until you get new enemies. Then it becomes boring. I quit about 3/4 of the way through.

Screw it. Way too much sneaking around. It may be more realistic than games like UT3, Q3, etc, but I prefer just to run & gun. Graphics look very nice for a 2004 game, but I'm done.

All I remember about the game is the amazing draw distances, but the textures were actually kind of shitty up close. The sounds were also amazing, I cranked my Bose speakers up during that game. My experiences almost exactly mirror Logan's, I quit about 3/4 the way through because the game just got flat out boring. The first couple of levels were freaking sick though, you could see the very end of the level from the first step.

If you want run and gun, get Painkiller.

I finished it, although the final level is super annoying. THat's saying a lot, because I can count on one hand the FPSs that I bothered to finish the campaign on. I think the last level that really had me was the one after you sneak through the river to avoid all the creeps waiting for you in the forest on either side.
