Halo Warz ?
Has anyone played Halo Wars? Although it's an XBox 360 console game I've heard it plays like a computer strategy Real Time Strategy (RTS).
I'm a huge Age of Empires/Kings/Conquerors fan and was wondering how this game compares since it was made by Ensemble Studios which also made the Age series games. Speaking of Ages I found a great site where you can play Ages online and a few other older strategy games... IGZones.com it is set up like the old msn gaming zone. Pretty sweet. Peace |

It's getting good reviews but not quite high enough for me to purchase it since I already have a huge stash of games waiting to be played.

It's actually pretty awesome. I was skeptical, as I am about any console-based RTS. I like it quite a bit though. The game plays smoothly, the story for the campaign mode is awesome (with killer cutscenes that really set the story in motion).
I recommend it for sure.

It's a bit odd as it's on the console side of things, but, yeah, pretty good game with some pretty cool stuff.
I'm not typically a fan of the RTS genre, but this one is just so very well put together and filled with enough fluff to keep me entertained. I originally bought it to give to my nephew. He was going to get the game, I was going to get the extra goodies (Mythic maps for matchmaking in Halo 3). Turns out, after playing the game, I was pretty well hooked. I finished the storyline, got a ton of achievements and had a real nice time of it.

If it's any good it'll be released for Windows in six months, like every 360 game worth having. I can wait.
And people wonder why I don't own an XBox.

And it would undoubtedly be better with such a set, but I really don't think they could have done it better with a controller.
Unfortunately that means they have to make concessions in control, like making the cursor locked into the middle of the screen and building a base is unbelievably cookie cutter. I think the main draw of this game is the story, and that it is Halo. My interest died after halo 2, I'm still annoyed I bought that joke Halo 3, but many people are still completely into it. If they did bring it to PC I doubt they'd change much, it'd be the same thing like with Unreal Tournament 3. A game that could have been much better but ultimately made too many sacrifices for a console market. |
