Anyone play Burnout Paradise on PS3?

This has to be the best game out on the PS3, just from the sheer amount of support that it has gotten from Criterion Games.

In it's first year on the streets the game got a few great FREE DLC packs that added many different things, there are now a couple motorcycles you can ride, there is also day/night racing as well as a little fog thrown in the mix. 2 exclusive online only cars add to the action and excitement.

Now, 2009 brings us even more content some in the form of pay for DLC packs but with the amount of free content they have provided I really haven't heard of people complaining about paying for stuff.

Cops and Robbers addon pack is in the works but they are keeping this one close to the vest and just putting out a couple screen shots.

The Party pack is out now as paid DLC but it adds support to allow up to 7 people share and pass around the controller to do various challenges, stunts, and speed runs through the city.

The Legendary, Toy, and Boost Special car packs are coming which add anywhere from 2-4 new cars into the world for you to roll around in, including the Jansen 88 Special (which strangely similar to a movie car in which Michael J Fox can travel through time) with a twist, the wheels can fold up and the car can hover around town.

Then to top it off they are opening up an entirely new island called the Big Surf Island pack. This will link the under construction suspension bridge on the E side of the map to a whole new island about the size of downtown Paradise City with a ton of new jumps and places to explore.

I personally can't wait and outside of one of the MMORPG games out there I don't think we have seen this kind of support from a game, let along a console racer. With the free and combined pay content they could support this game for another couple of years I think.

Anyone else play it and excited about what is coming up?

Have you played Burnout 3? It's arguably the best in the entire series. How does this game compare to 3? I want to pick this one up because you can get it for $19.99 new at some places.

I have burnout 3, and think it's awesome. I played Burnout: Paradise for a bit, and the free roaming thing is a bit weird at first, since before it was more or less using the walls as guide rails when you needed to. But from what I've played, the streets are designed in a way that kind of flows naturally, not easy, but fun to play.
What I did have time to look at was the graphics; the game is stunning, visually. The crashes are pretty awesome to watch, of course, since the car bends in pretty realistic ways.
Beyond that, I couldn't tell you, but from comments I've seen on Kotaku, the game has quite a devoted fanbase.

I cannot compare 3 to Paradise since I have not played 3, it would really take a lot for me to proclaim 3 the better of the two unless it just had a feel to it when driving that blew me away.

They have just done so much to keep Paradise fresh over the last year+ with more in the works for 09 is probably what keeps me so interested in it. Games can come out with an update, or a patch with new maps etc, but Criterion just keeps it coming.

Yeah my Game Informer had a miniarticle on how amazing Criterion has been with Burnout Paradise and the DLC. I think I might buy it but I don't know if it can compare to Burnout 3 which is the best racing game I've ever played.

It really has a style all it's own. I have never played the other Burnout games to compare, but they made this world open you can roll from one event to the other, the only downfall to that is that Criterion wanted to keep things open so from the beginning there was no restart event option. You have to race across the city and if you lose or wreck and wanted to restart there was no way, you had to drive all the way back to the starting point...they changed that with the last free update, you can now start an event with a small loading screen, back at the beginning.

Plus with the new low price you can't miss really, get the cheap game DL the free DLC and roll with it. IF you wanted to buy the addons then more power to ya.
