Mercs 2
I picked up Mercinaries last year as I was going on a week's vacation and couldn't put it down the whole time. So much fun to play. A friend of mine called it, "GTA with a purpose" and I guess I can see what he's saying.
When I heard Mercs 2 was coming out I couldn't wait to get it. I'll agree with some reviews that it is a little glitchy, but it's still alot of fun to play. Tons of weapons to shoot and vehicles to drive around in. Cruise around on the Panzercycle and tell me you're not a little impressed. I'm just surprised I'm the only one who's brought this topic up on the board. Where's the Merc love?

The theme to the sequel is beyond epic. An instant classic along with that of the 'Mario Overworld' theme, it is that catchy. They had me at 'Yo yo yo'.

You're not the only one to bring it up, just the only one to make a topic about it . Here's my review, I stand by it.

I think what its missing is the refreshing tone of the game. There weren't a whole lot of games like that, minus GTA at the time, that let the user play through the game with that much freedom in that manner. Nowadays, there are hundreds of choices for that style. This game just gets lost in the pile. Not to mention the amazingly annoying music that has a loop of about 4 minutes long and never changes. Or the fact that he Nillsen says the same quip every time he picks up a gun.

Another change, and this might be my personal view, but capturing HVTs just feels generic compared to the old one. Each "Deck of Cards" member from Merc 1 seemed original and also were in unique locations, where the current crop of no name goons are all in generic locations and have no meaning towards the game other than a way to get money and shop items. And I guess that might be it, the game just feels too sandboxy and generic, instead of being well integrated into a great story. But again, its still fun to blow things to hell and gone.

Church, I found your review to be pretty darn true to the experiences I've been having. A little too glitchy, prettier than the first game, but not quite as good of game play(partly the glitches and partly a certain something I can't put my finger on). I'm hoping for a patch, but I ain't holding my breath either.
Took on "Fortress Island" yesterday and it took me about an hour. However, I'm pretty detailed and like to blow up everything I can.
