Where to get ports of 80s arcade games on PC?
I'm looking to play arcade game classics from the 80s like Tempest, Star Castle, Gyrus, Zaxxon, Qix, Defender, Phoenix, Crazy Climber, Kangaroo, Berzerk ...
Anybody know of any sites where I can download ports of these games onto PC?

I know you can play a whole crapload of games right in your browser using Java at virtualnes.com. They aren't downloads, but at least you can pick up and play at anytime.
For games that require saving, or for other systems, you can get ROM emulators and ROMs pretty simply by doing a Google search. Try the Emulator Zone; they have an arcade section. EDIT: Apparently, MAME (Multiple Arcade Machine Emulator) is where it's at. The developer site even has some free ROM downloads. EDIT2: romnation.net has a crapload of ROMs, including the ones you mention. EDIT3: And, shit, some of those games you listed are awesome. I remember Qix! And Gyruss roxxorz!

Old School FTW!
There used to be a table top coin op Defender at my local greasy spoon caff, and if you were in 2P mode, the screen flipped to the guy on the ther side of the table on his go. Also Galaxians. I miss that game - I had it on my Palm a few years ago, and used to play it at the back of team meetings with the sound off...

Does anyone remember Xargon, F-22 Raptor, or Commander Keen? I'm pretty sure the first two at least had arcade versions. Used to love these ones!
