no ferrari/lambo in Gran Turismo
i've always wondered this, and i've only played GT3 and 4, but why are there no ferrari's or lamborghini's (or porches other than RUF)? is it that they didn't feel they needed them? will ferrari et al not allow them to do so? what's the story? i can't help but feel the game is lacking a little without these historic staples of racing.

I'm sure it's due to licensing BS.
I personally haven't enjoyed the series as much since GT2 due to supercars being the only type of cars in the game. GT2 seemed funner because you got to buy a $10k shitcan and then mod it out and put turbokits on them to make them fast. You got good with your own car and competed against the supercars using your sleeper. You even got to put decals and bodykits on your car and see how the engine was modified. It feels like something is missing from the latest GTs and I think it's a lack of "regular" cars that GT2 had. The series still has awesome controls and tracks and graphics but I think they took out one of the best aspects of the series since 2. Racing with supercars just isn't the same. |

From a licensing perspective GT was an administrative nightmare. I'm pretty sure of it based on the deals that I'm looking at now for just book publishing.
I didn't realize that GT3 and forward had changed that model from being able to drive the shitcans... I loved that part. Being able to drive a vehicle I can normally drive, hard and fast, like I wouldn't in real life made it much more real for me. and here I was waiting for the right time to get a PS3 for that very game. |
GT3 and GT4 had the older cars as well. They just didn't have the "racing modification" option that you could choose in GT2 to turn your car INTO a supercar.
You could still mod out your shitcan and make it fast - but not to the point of competing with $100,000 cars like in GT2. GT4 had shitcans a plenty! |
