Top games for 360
So yeah, i don't have any good games and don't want to buy any crappy ones. I know Halo and GTA4 are dope but what else is good?
|
Mass Effect, Bioshock, Dead Rising, Rock Band, Call of Duty 4...
Not in any order. |
Bioshock, Orange Box, Call of Duty 4, Gears of War
All 4 are on PC and I recommend you play them on PC if your PC is good (like better than 360 graphics). But if you don't have a good PC to play them, buy them for 360...all are amazing games. |
There are 6 main "must buys" :
1. Gears of War 2. Bioshock 3. Call of Duty 4 4. Halo 3 5. GTA IV 6. Orange Box |
Halo and gta4 are on the top of the list, yep.
If i were you i would check out the following games: The orange box. 5 games for the price of 1 - 3 halflife games (single player only), team fortress 2 (online only), and a game called portal which is kinda hard to explain so i'll just link a video review of orange box that includes an explaination: Mass Effect - If you've ever played Knights of the Old republic it is similar. It was made by the same people. Its a shooter/tech-magic action style rpg. Call of Duty 2 - not quite as many goodies as CoD4 but it was one of the top shooters on the system before CoD4 came out. Gears of War - Excellent game. Chainsaw = tehpwnz Rock Band - fun but kinda expensive. Great for parties and shit like that. Marvel Ultimate Alliance: Fun party action rpg. If you go to a place that sells used games (gamestop, EB, funcoland, etc) you can get this with forza 2 in the same disk for a low price. Forza 2 isn't bad if you like realistic racing. *shrugs* And one last one that is free that you can download off of xbox live: Aegis Wing Edit: yea bioshock and deadrising are fun too. very interesting games. |
Add Devil May Cry 4 & Condemned 2 to this list. Both are at least worth a rental, but I bought both and don't regret either purchase.
|
Aside from the ones mentioned:
Oblivion Crackdown Need for Speed series (if you like racing games) F.E.A.R. (typical FPS. Wasn't expecting much from it but I really enjoyed playing this one.) |
All the ones mentioned above are great. I'd like to throw out specifically additional recommendations for The Orange Box(action/adeventure), Call of Duty 4(FPS/war) and Mass Effect(RPG) though.
Crackdown is a great, fun game to just pick up and play for no reason. Are you adverse to Xbox LIve Arcade games? If not there are TONS of great ones. Undertow is popular. I liked it alright, but people seem to love it. Puzzle Quest is a GREAT puzzle/RPG game. There are several good card games for casual downtime, such as Uno, Hardwood Spades and Texas Hold'em. There are great puzzle games, Lumines Live! (a favorite of mine), Zuma (TotalMILFs favorite) and Geon. Classic video games like Contra, Ms. Pac Man (also Pac Man CE which is awesome) and Castlevania. Seriously? There are so damned many good 360 games I have no clue why anyone would by any other system ;) Rock Band is good, but if you don't have the $$$ for it, Guitar Hero III is pretty good as well (though I prefer Rock Band). Scene It! is good for casual parties (like, of the drunken but not crazy variety) or for just lounging with the SO, family or friends. Timeshift is pretty good. Not GREAT, but unique enough to be interesting. As is Army of Two if you have someone you can co-op with. Hope that helps! |
I don't think I can stress Call of Duty 4 enough. That game is so great, that I find it hard to even play GTA IV without getting the scratching-inducing, druggie need for more Call of Duty. Hell, I stopped playing Bioshock because of it, and that's saying something.

Lol, I'm the same. Was playing GTA4 last night and was thinking to myself "damn I want to play some CoD4." So of course I saved my game and popped in CoD4 for a few games, then went back to GTA. |
Too true about COD4.

While you are correct that all of these are good games, everything listed is on PC or PS3, so a 360 isnt really needed. Halo 3 is exclusive right now, but will hit pc, but why play halo 3 when you have call of duty? |
Well, not all of them are available on the PS3. As for PC gaming, well... because a good gaming PC costs more than a 360 and is always in need of an upgrade for the latest greatest games. The 360 will always play all games that are 360 games. *shrug* I used to be a HARDCORE PC gamer, and have pretty much given it up entirely in favor of the 360.
ALso, Halo 3 and CoD4 are totally different types of games, and I enjoy playing both at different times. CoD4 has more intense action, overall, and better "realism" and is quite fun indeed! Halo 3 is more twitch based, feels more casual and is also quite fun. Neither one is a replacement for the other. |
Ninja Gaiden is a fun game too. Though, the sequel is coming out pretty soon, so you might want to hold off for that. Burnout: Paradise isn't bad either if you like racing games.
|
If you like old school JP RPGs: Lost Odyssey and if you're a fan of fighters, Virtua Fighter 5 and Dead or Alive 4.
|
They've all been listed
Mass Effect is great, but the cheesy planet visits bite.
BioShock is a seriously whacked game, but very fun to play. Oblivion should be called Oblivicrack. COD4 Halo3, but kids ruin almost any online game. You need to join a clan. Hey, why doesn't TFP have a Xbox 360 clan? Rockband is awesome when you have friends over, or your kids if they dig it. Not so much fun alone. Gears of War Oh, about gamespot.com. They let Jeff Gertsmann go last year for giving true reviews, so I don't know if I'd trust them anymore. He is opening a new website this summer; giantbomb.com, I think. |
I wann abuy a 360, but I want to buy a keyboard/mouse for it. does that make me weird? or just impossible to retrain my fps skills on a mere controller?

But yea after he left there was a large exodus of people from the site. I guess they're all going to go join Jeff. They did seem to give Ironman an honest review: |

I guess I'm the only person in the world that thinks Halo is just OK.
CoD4 is a great game. And you can log over 100 hours in Oblivion and still not play the whole thing. Orange box is full of fun games; you get a lot for your money. And FORZA provides some wonderful racing and customization action. |
1. GTA 4
2. Mass Effect 3. RB6 Vegas 2 |

Another one is Assassin's Creed. The game is absolutely stunning in graphics and gameplay has been intriguing as well. |
Ace Combat
Assassins Creed Bioshock Blazin Angels Burnout Paradise Call of duty 4 Dead or alive 4 Dirt Flat out ultimate carnage Forza Gears of War Lost Odyssey Mass Effect Medal of Honor airborn NBA 2k8 Perfect dark zero Strangehold Virtual fighter 5? (I think 5) |
Ace Combat isn't bad but you really need the flightstick/throttle that came in the bundle to get the real experience of the game. playing it with the controller just isn't as satisfying.
MoH Airborne i would rent or at least get used. It is rather short and pretty frustrating to play. Don't forget opentocomments that you can also download demos of most of these game off of xbox live. I highly recommend doing that before forking over any cash |
Oh I forgot GRAW 1 and 2 also...
|
lol, almost all these games are out, and in some ways are better, on PC...
|
cant trade-in or return PC games if you dont like them tho.
|
I'd like to add Penny Arcade: On the Rain-Slick Precipice of Darkness, Episode I for XBLA. If you've never read the webcomic, head over to www.penny-arcade.com and check out the humor. The game is awesome!
