Super Smash Bros. Brawl
Anyone else playing this?
I got my copy last night, and my friend and I played the game from midnight til about 8am. This game is seriously fun and addicting. It plays completely different from Melee, so it's like learning how to play all over again. And the new adventure mode...amazingly difficult on the hardest setting (this is coming from a guy who used to play AND win melee tournaments in my area). I haven't tried online yet, so I can't tell you how well/terribly it works. I hear good things, though, and will try it later today. If anyone wants to help me test it, let me know. |

Competitively, no, it's very hard to pick up and play. However, just for a quick fun fighting game, it's pretty simple. It's just A + direction for an attack (different directions for different attacks), B + direction for specials (again, different directions for different specials), and blocking, jumping and running.

Maybe I'll rent Super Smash Bros. when I find it available. For now, I'll be playing Mario Galaxy and a few others.

I think I actually prefer the classic controller... which kind of surprised me. This is a busy week for me so I've only played it for a couple hours so far. The graphics look awesome and the music is pretty outstanding... I do not like most of the new levels, though. I found myself worrying more about not getting killed from the levels than I did actually fighting. Most of them seem terribly small and I don't like how many of them aren't stationary... to me that really takes away from what the game is supposed to be about.
What is your favorite character to use? So far I'm kinda partial to Meta Knight and Pit.

I imported it, I've been playing it since Feb 1
Gamestop is having a 4 round national tournament and I won the first round tournament on launch day. Round 2 is this Saturday, and I figure I've got a good shot since odds are everyone there will only have one week's experience |

As far as favorite character, I'm not really sure who mine is. I played a little online Brawl and whooped some ass with Ike. But, other than that, I don't think I've gotten the feel of all of the characters yet. |

I hate to say it, but i'm fairly certain Brawl hasn't yet even been officially slated for a EU release. It's unlikely that when the release date is announced it will be before June.
However, as a resident of the Land of Eng myself, i've worked around the problem buy getting a freeloader and US copy from Ebay. Yeah you can't play online because of the intolerable lag as a result of playing only Americans, but i'll probably pick up the EU release too when it eventually comes out, probably over the summer.

Also, has anyone else heard that this game is already the best selling Nintendo game of all time, which, if one really takes the time to comprehend that absurd fact, it could quite possibly already become the best selling video in history before the year's end? PM me if you're going to add me. Also Jet, a little game called Grand Theft Auto 4 might have something to say about being the best selling video game in history. Edit: I've taken a serious liking to Snake. He's pretty much all I play with online. Surprisingly Falco and Snake are my 2 favorite characters, with Wolf and Sonic being 2 of my other lesser played favorites.

Snake and Sonic are too confusing for me to play. I can never develop any sort of strategy with them. I can play with anyone else in the game except for those two.
Speaking of which, after playing Squirtle for a while, I've found that he has some sick mind games. I'll make sure to add you guys so we can get some online going. |

Watching 1v1's on youtube, playing 1v1's with a friend of mine from an MMO I used to play and just practicing really. Definitely not from playing FFA's "With Anyone" but I still get practice from them. Sometimes I just do 1v1's with lvl 9 CPU's and practice there, heh.
Personally I think I play best with Snake, but I'm trying to get better with ZSS/Wolf and kinda trying out Olimar but his recovery is shit. We definitely have to get some more matches in, get your interwebz fixed!

It's a nice change of pace to play with someone with a more advanced style. My friend that I usually play with just camps and waits for me to come to him, then does the block-grab bullshit. I still beat him 90% of the time, it just annoys the hell out of me.
I'll be in the process of fixing the modem soon. Definately can't wait to give it another shot. |

I'd be down for some friendlies later this evening if you want. I don't get off work til 6PM EST. Also, if anyone has their Wii pretty close to their router I highly suggest buying a Lan Adapter for $25. It's well worth the purchase.
