Well the game *is* hard if you are an RPG perfectionist like myself. The problem is that once a character dies, he is dead for good. No coming back for battles, and, worse, no more story involving that character. So when I make the slightest miscalculation or the AI happens to roll a critical hit then I'm stuck resetting and doing that level all over again. There are a couple of stages that are extremely annoying because you have to play to virtual perfection AND get lucky if you haven't leveled up a certain weak character enough previously.
However, the is also very engaging and I never sat it down until it came time for finals and I *had* to use that time otherwise. If you're a fan of the series you should enjoy it, but be prepared for the desire to chuck the Wii-mote through the television.

I love this game, but I haven't gotten a chance to finish it. You really should play the previous Fire Emblem for the Gamecube before this one. It's very similar and you enjoy the characters a lot more.
For a game that's an RPG and a Strategy game, I give it two thumbs up! Fire Emblem FTW!
