Beautiful Katamari
We bought the game today for the XBox 360.
I just wasted about 4 hours playing this game and I still don't get it. I rolled around and collected things and had the king berate me. All the normal stuff I guess, but is there a point to it or is it just a fun time waster that gives me a chance to curse at the king?

Have you played any of the earlier Katamari games? I haven't even seen Beautiful Katamari yet, but I LOVED the original and "we heart katamari". Very quirky and VERY Japanese--but the poor translation add something to the game, I've always thought.
The point of the game is to get to where you're rolling bigger and bigger balls. At the highest levels you're rolling up skyscrapers and supertankers. |

I just tried this at my friend's house and kind of wish I was high while playing it. I will never be the same again. What the heck is a "Kappa," and why is it running around the city?

This is the first time I ever played the game. I'm not to concerned with the price. It's the first video game in a long time that I actually played for 4 hours straight by myself and looked forward to trying it again. That hasn't happened since Zelda: Majora's Mask for the N64. I'm a fickle gamer.
Aberkok: I was thinking that it would be much cooler playing it stoned too. I would love to try that at some point. I played it for a bit more this morning. I said 30 minutes, turned into 2 hours. I'm now intent on actually having the king say something nice about my katamari...if he ever does the bastard. Does he?

I got a 1m ball for a goal of 60cm. Finally, I got a decent comment.
I still say this game sucks, but I'm starting to like it.

Yeah, you have to pretty much double or triple the goal for the king to say anything nice in all of the versions I've played...which is fine, as that usually isn't too hard once you get the hang of where the different sections in the level are.

It's quite an addicting little game even though it sounds stupid whenever I try to explain it to someone. Sexycat: Unfortunately, we don't have on-line capabilities. We just got the xBox with a memory card. We don't do on-line gaming so we didn't want to spend the extra money.

It's stupid.
Stupidly addicting, that is! I bought the original game to play with my 6 year old, and that got us both hooked. It's fun rolling up everything under the sun, even if she's not very good at it. Glad you enjoy it! Who cares if it sounds stupid, as long as you enjoy doing it. That's how we roll!

The Katamari games are the only games I even bother playing anymore. I love them.
