Vaporware 2007: The Duke Nuke 'Em Forever Teaser Trailer
George Broussard, game producer, released this statement on the 3D Realms forums today.
Quote:
The Duke has returned. Well, in teaser form. So... Will the game look decent? Will the teaser be complete CG? Will people still care about Duke Nuke 'Em when this is released in 2098? Place your bets people, we'll take all comers.

Bleh, you just beat me in creating a new thread. Ah well, perhaps a mod will be kind enough to delete my thread.
Anyway, Hail to the King baby the end is near.

The game could give you a BJ while playing in a virtual 3d world and not live up to the hype.

Glad to see I'm not the only one to find the homo-eroticism in the promo poster.
Seriously, though, I think I may have played a few seconds of the original Duke Nuke'em. Or maybe it was 3D. I can't remember, if that's any indication. If it raises a bar, I might want to try the new one.

I would imagine that the teaser they show will be completely pre-rendered CG like the image above and contain zero actual gameplay, making the whole thing a tease and worthless and really nothing different than what has been going on for the past ten years.
Until the game arrives at your house on a CD/DVD, there's no reason for anyone to get excited about anything. Of course, I'll still be watching the trailer tomorrow and hoping that it's cool, but it doesn't really make me hopeful that the game itself is really coming out. Neat screenie, though. |

True enough, but TF2 has been released and overall most people consider it a good game. DNF is still the king of vaporware. The only game play footage released for it was the title screen on an Atari 2600 as a joke.
Interesting list, kind of amazed someone took the time to compile that.

am I the only one that goes "meh" at the pre-rendered pap even?
I don't much like the animation and if you look at the model itself, it's not that fancy either. And I don't like the voice actor either

This can only be a marketing ploy. 3D Realms are probably working on something else and just want some attention. No way in hell is this game getting made. Ever.

I will buy whatever system I need to in order to play that game if it does actually ever get to released, if for no other reason than to have played the whole series and because I have faith that if it DOES hit the market it'll be a fine piece of gaming, though it couldn't possibly live up to the anticipation created by the wait.

the teaser was lame but the thing I thought throughout the entire trailer was that if this is prerendered CG it's some of the shittiest prerendered CG I have seen in some years. So either it's poorly done CG or good looking ingame graphics.
I wouldn't put it passed them to put out some shitty quality CG, though.
