Cynthetiq 06-18-2007 07:03 AM

maybe you could type full coherent words and a bit more as to what the problem is a bit more coherently?

you are asking of the community to help you, the least you could do is help out a bit and type full words.

gomzister 06-18-2007 07:06 AM

I just Installed a modchip yesterday & so the pirated games are working but most of the games when i start it,it shows me four random screens on my TV screen, plz gv me a possible solution for this,i hope u guys understand.
It's like it shows me 4 horizontal displays of the game on the TV screen, but it does not happen wid all d games, well the game HITMAN is workin properly(ALL PIRATED).
it also happens wid sm DVD movies.

Cynthetiq 06-18-2007 07:12 AM

first and foremost we don't do anything warez related here on TFP.

My first suggestion is to remove the modchip and bring your system back to the way that it was prior to modding. Redo the installation. If it still is problematic, your issue is with the modchip.

gomzister 06-18-2007 07:14 AM

dude i am a newbie to dis,so i dnt know wt u do or wt u dnt.
r u sure d problem is wid the modchip?
can u assure dat removing the modchip will fix dis problem.

I think you could get better advice and people will understand you better at maxcosole.net the link to their ps2 modified forum: Link

xepherys 06-18-2007 07:46 AM

gomzister,

While I appreciate your woes, I'm curious why you joined TFP to ask a question like this. While this is a gaming thread, this is pretty obviously not the type of place to answer questions like this. Man, I've been a gamer more than likely since before you were born. You have to just know better sometimes bro!

The_Jazz 06-18-2007 08:02 AM

gomzister, I think you need to read this:

http://www.tfproject.org/tfp/showthread.php?t=48132

before you post again in this thread.

Lasereth 06-18-2007 03:25 PM

Try googling it, or finding a forum that deals with it. That's your best bet.

Siege 06-18-2007 04:45 PM

Your mod chip is possessed. There's nothing you can do about it being possessed, but you can show it who's boss by hitting it with a hammer a few times.

That oughta get it fixed.

Shauk 06-18-2007 08:38 PM

I have a modded PS2, and i'd help, but i'm a horribly judgemental meanie and don't help people who butcher the english language with thier ebotextnics

CyCo PL 06-18-2007 10:02 PM

If you're modchipped, you're probably trying to play PAL games on an NTSC television. That's going to give you garbage.

PAL = European, NTSC = USA/Japan. You can't play European games on a US/Japan PS2 and vice versa.

Also, you have a keyboard in front of you. Stop typing like you're sending text messages over a cellphone. It makes you look like a twelve year old. And twelve year olds aren't allowed here.

gomzister 06-18-2007 11:12 PM

OH!! stop being rude guys,my only mistake was that i wrote some words in short forms, why the hell r u making a big issue of it..........i was just asking for help.........thats it!!
If you are willing to help then do it or else leave it.........!!!!

@ CyCo PL
I think what you said is right, can you give me the solution for it.
I mean can i convert my NTSC games into PAL so that i can play it on my PS2?
Sorry for that mistake of mine,it wldnt happen again.

Shauk 06-18-2007 11:14 PM

I'm not being rude, i'm enforcing my personal standard, this is a forum, not a cell phone chatbox.

*shrug*

I'll leave it at that. good luck with your problem though! :) :) :)

gomzister 06-18-2007 11:22 PM

I told you it was mistake because i didn't know that writing short forms in this site is prohibited.

CyCo PL 06-18-2007 11:23 PM

I think you may be able to re-encode DVD movies from PAL to NTSC and vice versa, but I don't think you can do it with games. I'm not really sure on how to do it though. And sorry if I was rude about the cellphone text thing, it's just a pet peeve of mine :P

gomzister 06-18-2007 11:28 PM

Please dont mention pal,its allright,it was my mistake after all.

Cynthetiq 06-19-2007 02:22 AM

Interesting, I don't have that problem on my Xbox, all PAL and NTSC work without issue. NTSC Xbox and NTSC TV.

Same thing goes for my regionfree DVD player. I have 2 of them one that has a PAL converter and one that does not. The one that does not plays PAL back without a problem but the screen is slightly distorted and skewed, with a slight flicker. Obviously the PAL converter one plays it back perfectly.

Lasereth 06-19-2007 03:14 AM

Hey I have an idea. Let's FLAME this guy for making a simple mistake even though flaming isn't allowed on TFP. Jesus H lighten up guys.

And yeah it sounds like a region issue to me.

gomzister 06-19-2007 04:47 AM

I hope u guys understand dat what problem i m facing ,its like after the game starts it gives me 4 split screen picture, but the game Hitman is working coz its got the options of NTSC & PAL & when i choose NTSC the same thing happens but when i choose PAL its allright,i just wished all the games had such options.
I think its the same NTSC/PAL problem again.
I am living in India which is a PAL region & i've got games which are in NTSC format, what should i do? can i convert them & write it?

Cynthetiq 06-19-2007 05:02 AM

I think you'll have to look up the rest of your question at some gamer site since you're now treading more towards the discussion of warez and pirated video games.

xepherys 06-19-2007 05:07 AM

you cannot convert PAL versions of video games to NTSC or vice versa, to the best of my knowledge. It's specific to the data the disc gives to the system, and the specifics of the systems video output.

Pogue Mahone 06-19-2007 11:47 AM

Like Xepherys said, it's impossible to convert NTSC games to Pal, and vice versa. You're better off just buying a used PAL version of those games, or buying a used PS-2 capable of playing NTSC games.

gomzister 06-19-2007 08:16 PM

Thanx for all your help guys.........

@ xephyrys & Pogue Mahone
Sorry, but you were wrong because i got a software which patches NTSC dvd's to PAL & it is workin fine,i tried it,if you need you can go through this thread........

xepherys 06-20-2007 12:28 AM

Well, glad it worked out for you, though I've always found that just buying a game is always worth the money, despite my DIY spirit. *shrug*

As a side note, the PAL -> NTSC converter admittedly loses some of the screen real-estate. Frankly, i'm a whore for graphics, and losing even half an inch of my game isn't worth it to me. Of course, now that I have a 1080p display, it would be even more tragic

gomzister 06-21-2007 06:56 AM

@ Xephyrys
The topic was not about buying a game or not, sorry to say but you are again wrong coz i got a software which patches NTSC to PAL and also fixes up the screen coz its got Y-fix patcher also.
So the graphics is totally fine & i am enjoying with it.

agreed. I'm a anamorphic widescreen fan... so pan and scan is just like being served warm leftovers.

xepherys 06-21-2007 10:06 AM

gom, normally I wouldn't continue such an argument, but from the page you linked, specifically talking about the Y-fix:

Quote:

d)Select 48 as the Y-Fix offset. You cannot have it perfectly centered because the PAL signal has more lines or resolution than the NTSC signal does. This is as close as you can get. You can raise the offset if you need to see more of the bottom of the screen or you could lower the offset if you want to see more of the top of the screen.
it's close, but it isn't perfect. If it isn't every pixel the developer wanted me to see, it isn't worth it, in my book. I'm not slamming you for going the route you went. I hope you didn't take offense. I was only casually mentioning it, both for your benefit and the benefit of others that might come to this thread. :-)
