I've been playing it for the last few hours - my only quasi-issue with it is that it is fairly difficult to drive at high speeds, and impossible to stop quickly with any type of control. Granted, I guess it's relatively realistic, but it is GTA... so the killing legions of people and what not isn't exactly reality.
Additionally, I really want to fly, and after significant exploration of the airport - where you automatically get a four star rating - I still have yet to find anything I can climb into. If anyone else runs across anything, let me know

Played maybe 2 hours so far on PS3 version -
Initial impressions: FPS isn't too hot, but you get used to it quickly Excellent characters already!!! SIXAXIS ACTUALLY WORKS!!!!!!!! I was manuevering the helicopter in the training course after 2 minutes without any sort of major problems; the damn thing is almost as responsive as the wii remote, it's pretty scary You can also turn using motion-only with the motorcycles - works pretty good as well. Still much better using the analog sticks with both helicopters and motorcycles both, but I can see myself utilizing the sixaxis down the road once I'm completely used to it - especially with the helicopters. Insane draw distance and effects!!!!!!!!

The only real complaint I have with this game so far is the ability to lock onto other players in multiplayer games... Takes a lot of the skill out of the gunfights. Whoever can jam the left trigger and then the right trigger first wins the shootout. The whole cover system seems kind of pointless in multiplayer games, although it's pretty useful sometimes. It's infinitely more useful against AI though

Gonna just throw this out there b/c I'm pretty sure I know the answer, but is it possible to modify the HUD to put the time and money back on the screen instead of pressing start to see it all the time? I find that kind of redundant.

Anyone here know anything about a $10,000 'hidden package' in GTA4? Rumor has it it is there and the first person to find it and report it to Rockstar wins $10,000 in real life. My BS meter is going off like nothing else but wanted to see what you all think.

Yeah, as said above no co-op. Online multiplayer is awesome though. You have to admit that the co-op in SA was mediocre at best.
So far the most amazing things for me have been: 1. Euphoria - Enough said 2. Flying through windshields when crashing at high speeds 3. New driving physics 4. Using slow motion in cinematic mode I've gotten lots of fun pulling up to some fools in slow-mo, lobbing a few grenades out of the car, then speeding off. The slow motion explosions are both visually and audibly stunning. Only thing I can say that disappoints me so far would be the limited clothing choices. Not much to complain about really. That and they were lying when they said you'd be able to go into every building. Still though; it is sweet. |

I posted this over on gamefaqs forum, I figured I'd copypasta it here since I found it slightly humorous.
"My Niko is a Serial Killer. He pretends to be a good guy. He obeys most laws and really comes off as a nice guy.. Sometimes he gets these urges though.. He just has to go out and murder someone.. This one time he accidentally knocked over this woman and she started a fight with him. He let her get a few punches as he didn't want hit a woman but she wasn't letting up so he slapped her around a little bit. Of course, She started running. He chased her like 10 blocks across town with her screaming. He ran out of breath so he jacked a motorcycle and followed her shooting his pistol at her feet intentionally missing her. She finally ran into an alley and he put a bullet through her skull. Then he kicked her 5-6 times because she was still twitching."

There are a couple co-op gametypes in the multiplayer.

Am I the only one on that the new driving physics is "driving" nuts... hahaha... I'm good. Seriously though. I hunt out Sedans with great steering because I end up just crashing. I should add that I'm playing with the classic settings with a PS3. Is it because I'm accelerating with my X button. I'm loving it otherwise.

I was thinking about changing the driving to classic controls, but I decided to go ahead and just play it the way the developers intended... It's much easier to control the analog on the triggers than it is on the face buttons, and (for me) going slightly slower than top speed gets me places a lot faster since I don't slide around as much trying to get to my destination.

Yea, I don't blame Rockstar for this one. Microsoft deliberately made those labels misleading in my opinion. There's been a few games I bought that said "co-op 2 to 4" on there, it means CO-OP over xbox live. To have SPLIT SCREEN CO-OP, it has to say "split screen" on the top line of labels and "Players 1-2 or 1-4 in the first box to actually have co-op like you mean it. Pissed me off many times. COD4 does this for example.

Spoiler: Has anyone gotten to the mission where Elizabeta and Little Jacob are fighting and you have to get her crack back from the abandoned hospital? Damn that mission's hard, took me a few tries. Its not too bad until you actually get the crack and then the NOOSE drug raid shows up! Hardest 3 star rating to shake. lol

I'm not anywhere close to even a quarter of the way to finishing this game and I don't mind one bit.
It's beautiful, the acting is fantastic, the work is varied....as far as the genre goes, it's almost the perfect game. I'm blown away by the scale and I haven't even been to all the islands yet. The detail is extraordinary and, in case you missed it, everything is just drop dead gorgeous. I love just walking the sidewalks and listening to crowds chatter. Just ambient noise, but it's so very, very cool. That being said, I don't like the combat system too much and--just in general--I hate timed mission stuff, but thankfully there isn't too much of either in significant enough chunks to turn me off of this game. There are some weird pop-ins occassionally, but that's to be expected considering the scale, draw distances and such and, thankfully, I haven't had any of the freezing issues I've read about. I was never a big GTA fan in general, but now I'm a believer. Everyone should pick up this game, even if it's just to dig around in the sandbox for a bit.

Well, I beat the story line last night, and the conclusion was awesome! I'm going to have to play through it again to see the other ending, and what changes when I do/don't kill certain people.
I'd just like to say (again) that this is my most favoritest video game ever created and totally lived up to the hype.

A friend of mine showed me this, so I thought I'd post it on here too. It was on another forum so obviously I won't post a link to it, but all credits for finding this and the image go to a user by the name of zoukka.
I present to you, the 6 fingered whore from GTA5.

Not like people were doubting the release of the PC version.
I'm more interested in whether or not R* will make the game moddable like GTA3 was (RealGTA was awesome). They removed mod tools from Vice City and San Andreas.
